Re: Dig Dug PAL version

The PAL versions of a lot of carts are not yet dumped (or I haven't seen them).

Please dump it!

Re: vic 20 - c64 adapter...

I seem to recall a C64 cart adapter which allowed you to connect a 16K VIC-20 RAM cart. You would load up dumped C64 cartridge images into it and it could play them...

Re: VIC 20 = Epoch Super Cassette Vision?

Most likely they just "borrowed" the same character set/ROM.

There's not a ton of ways to get readable text in 8x8 squares. :)

Re: Sony PVM professional video monitor and the VIC20?

These Sony PVM monitors work great with the C64 and VIC-20, and everything else for that matter. Most of them will also do either PAL or NTSC and both decode the color and go to 50Hz/60Hz mode when detected. The RGB also works great, but of course only on 15KHz sources. With the right adapter, it wo...

Re: What's a fair price for a C64 nowadays?

Condition, condition, condition. :)

Untested but OK condition, maybe 30-40 for both. If broken or very dirty, $20.

Tested working, cleaned, with all the cables? $100 or more.

Re: C64 Wiki fast loaders compare help!

Sure, nothing wrong with that at all. It is a wiki- you could create another section specifically with another test besides the 64'er speedtest.

I will dig up the speedtest.prg and link it here...

Re: C64 Wiki fast loaders compare help!

I am the one who added those, and this resource is specifically for listing what the 64'er speedtest.prg generates. By changing those, now you've skewed the data and it's no longer accurate. If you want another reference that is more technical or with a new speed test methodology (like LordCrass has...

Re: Low audio from composite cable

I've never run into that before... audio is normally loud and clear out the AV cable. Perhaps you have a bad cable, i.e. on wrong pins or not grounded, etc...?

With no repair experience, my advice would be to send it to someone for repair or trade-in on a working one.

Re: a new Game for the VIC-20 Fort Apocalypse

By the way, the original subject of this thread- Fort Apocalypse. Very cool adaptation...

That was the first game I played on the C64 at a friends' house, and I still only had a VIC. I tried to do something like this, but this is much better. Mine was PETSCII graphics :)
