Re: Megacart is back

(...) Whenever I'm looking for modern storage solutions for old computers, the Mega Cart is the benchmark that I use. Why has nobody ever made a C64 version? Well, unnecessary. Because of http://wiki.icomp.de/wiki/Chameleon Maybe better than Turbo MMC? 🤔 Mmm. Interesting Noizer, but I think I'd sti...

Re: Motherboard versions

Thanks Orion70. I thought that was the case.

Now I have a perfectly useable PC PSU from 18 years ago that, if I knew how, could become the new PSU for my VIC 20. I'm pretty sure I've seen this has been done. Anyone know how?

Re: Megacart is back

I bought my Mega Cart quite some years ago, it wasn't one of the first, and it wasn't one of the last, but what it is, is GREAT! This is simply the best single item that I have ever bought for the VIC 20, or actually for any of my 8 Bit computers. I still can't quite believe that such a thing is pos...

Re: Motherboard versions

Then again the other versions let you use the same power supply as a C64. Do they though? I always thought that the VIC 20 PSU is known to fry a C64. I have the CR VIC 20 (same type I had first time round in the 80s) that has the beige wedge shaped PSU. My C64 has the exact same brick. I have them ...

Re: Introduce Yourself: What's your User Name based on?

I've not been here much in recent years, so I thought I'd say hello again.

In reference to Jeff's second question, What is your user name based on? Well in my case it's obviously based on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum.

Re: Just got a VIC20, now what? :)

I'll have to try Snapper on my Beeb later. I have it on the MMC card somewhere, and I now have a nice shiny Joystick adapter for it! One thing I will say, the BBC version of Jetpac doesn't look or sound nearly as nice as the VIC 20 version. Personally I think the vIC version is actually better than...

Re: BBC Micro

It's a great machine. I picked one up a few years ago complete with a nicely populated Turbo MMC. I do, of course remember them from school. I see them as being the ultimate development/expansion /educational computer available at the time, at least in the UK. I suppose in the US you had the Apple I...

Re: Just got a VIC20, now what? :)

Well I've been doing a bit of a comparison recently, between VIC 20, C64, Dragon 32, and BBC Micro. Now the "Daddies" of that line up are surely the BBC and the C64, but, the mighty VIC has some very good versions of some of the earlier video games. For instance: I think the VIC has the b...

The VIC 20 is brilliant thread

I haven't been here for some time until recently, and I hadn't used my VIC much either. Recently I fished out my Dragon 32 for curiosity, and then I bought a BBC model B. So then I looked at the C64 again, and loaded up some games, and then I turned to the VIC 20, my first, humble computer. And just...

Re: New Release: Tank Battalion

I always thought the Dragon seemed like a good machine back then. I only got one recently, and have been surprised by some of its abilities.
The palette and lack of lower case are its two fundamental flaws.

Re: New Release: Tank Battalion

That looks like it and sounds like it, yes. Like I said before lots of slightly different variants of the same game on the device I have. They all look the same and sound the same, I think it's the layout and difficulty that changes, apart form the editor one. Originally they were probably all one g...
