Centallica, your tagline should read,

Another thing I hate: Sellers with bad attitudes. I find item number 140075391611: http://i5.ebayimg.com/03/i/000/85/0a/d1c2_1.JPG I used the "Put in an offer" that used to be there, and made what I thought was a reasonable offer. He came back with a counter-offer and lowered the price onl...

I'm in Oshawa, and I'd really love to make it. Unfortunately, being the family man that I am, my weekends are pretty much committed, except for the couple of hours Saturday morning I take out to take my son to the flea market where he trades games for his Gameboy. I'll work on my wife between now an...

e-bay madness

Am I out of touch with the current value of the PET, or did this auction get just a little out of control?

Yes, I went over that list first...no drives listed for sale at all; the drives are all bundled with systems. I was contemplating the C64 system for $50, but decided I wanted to "Rescue" the unwanted first, which is how I ended up with a 1702 and a Vic 20. However, if anyone happens to hav...

What about this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-Commodore-VIC-20-w-Pwr-Sply-Video-Works_W0QQitemZ200070154551QQihZ010QQcategoryZ4193QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem  What...and they won't include the TV? :? Shipping insurance also not offered. There is, at least, a "Submit best offer" button.

Good price for a Datasette?

Just curious, how much do the newer Datasettes typically sell for, on average?

Don't beat yourself up. The VIC community is small enough that you'll eventually get what you want at the price you want. More VIC systems go unsold on ebay than any other system. The fact that a good number of them are overpriced to start with probably has something to do with that... http://cgi.e...

What game turned you to PC?

Somewhere along the way for many of us, there was a defining game that made you sit up and take notice that the PC was a superior gaming platform. That game for me was Duke Nukem. When that game came out, nothing could touch it. It ran in DOS on a '386 or better, I believe it required 8MB of RAM whi...

I love this statement. I finally started having fun doing "retro-computing" a few years ago when I realised I didn't have to be ashamed about my VICs and Amigas being old, and started not caring anymore. The whole point of using them was because the were from a different era. I wasn't try...

I had one last night. I went into Cash Converters, and found two Datasette drives. One was a C2N 1530; the other, some 3rd party Datasette drive; I think it was made by Panasonic. I knew it was a Datasette because of the cable connection. There was an old price tag on the box of the C2N of $58; the ...

Re: Are you ready for a new Vic-20 experience ?

Hi, how do you use your real vic ? It's presently connected to a 1702 monitor. I have eight cartridges for it. I currently use it to test out bits of code, and play the games on the cartridges. I'm going to connect a C2N datasette to it shortly (when I source a decent one for a decent price), then ...

I used to find 386 & 486 curbside. Last year I started seeing P3 systems show up. Many communites have FreeCycle groups set up to keep computers and other items out of the land fill. The premise is that you give stuff to others who have a use for it, instead to tossing stuff out. One ma...

Once again, I love story time! What is "labour (sic) at a union job"? Manual labour; that's where one uses their physical aptitude to do the work for which one gets paid. A union is an organization of the workers who negotiate fair pay and benefits from their employer, using their collect...

Story time again. I, too, bought an original Gameboy back in 1990 when they first came out. I, too, was overall impressed with it; the graphics, animation, and gameplay were exceptional for a portable system in its price range, and the battery life was quite good as well. I bought the external recha...
