Yup, can test on real PAL- and NTSC-machines.

Re: WIP - mystery port #1: Chaos

The bug in my code was a missing "sta $912e" on the IRQ init due to copy/paste error. The VIA interrupts should have been disabled, but fired anyway on 3.0 so I did not notice. The hanging makes perfect sense. Can you report this bug to VICE please? https://sourceforge.net/p/vice-emu/bugs...

Re: WIP: Doom

If used correctly, my BASIC-program further back in this thread sets the registers correctly. However for ease of use I have created a doom.d64-image that has a program that sets the UltiMem correctly as the first file on the disk: http://www.tokra.de/vic/doom/ultidoom.d64 So, just type load"ul...

Re: WIP: Doom

Hmm, the 3K area is mostly affected by crosstalk, so maybe this still is the issue. Using the memtest, can you delete the lines that check the other memory blocks, so it just checks 3k? Then try adding BLK5 again and re-run, then the other blocks. Also, try running crosstalk-check in an endless loop...

Re: Latest firmware for SD2IEC?

I see no reason why they should not work. Sadly, some hardware guys still believe the current binaries to be "alpha" oder "beta"-releases, but the author has stated himself on Forum64.de that the newer releases are no more alpha or beta than the 0.10.3-release. So, you should be ...

Re: WIP: Doom

Very strange. I can only suggest you run crosstalk-check for at least 10 times, sometimes crosstalk will not appear at once, but only after several runs. It may also be a good idea to test the full memory . As said others, including myself, have been able to run this on original hardware with UltiMe...

Re: WIP: Doom

Just tried on my real machine again. Works perfectly fine. If you use the original UltiMem-image it may be possible that this screws up the original register-settings as well. I suggest you use my small BASIC-program to set them correctly before loading Doom. It should work then. You may want to mak...

Re: WIP: Doom

You are still talking about VICE-only, right? I found out why it does not work there. The Ultimem-emulation sets the default values for the registers incorrectly. This way if you activate expansion memory, it will sometimes use the same physical memory on the Ultimem, so there will be crosstalk (= m...

Re: VIC 20 book on Kickstarter

However, all of the outer hardcover is matte finish. If I recall correctly, I thought the commodore keys and cover images were to have had a gloss spot varnish applied to make them "pop" visually?? I also remember reading this. Perhaps it was a further step in fund raising that didn't mee...

Re: WIP: Doom

Doom works perfectly fine for me on my UltiMem. Are you sure it is configured correctly?

Try

before loading Doom. Worksforme

Re: Maxi-/Uber-Edit

Apart from copying and adapting the screen-editor code I did not copy any other functionality from the kernal. Source code attached if anyone would like to expand this. I use the VIC20PrgGen by ajordison.

Re: Jiffydos Vic20 issue

There is no special PAL-UK. PAL is PAL. The shfited screen definitely points to an NTSC-ROM - try "PRINT PEEK (36864)" - if you get 12 it's PAL, if you get 5 it's NTSC. Looks like you got the wrong ROM. I'm not a hardware-guy so I cannot say if the drive-problem is also due to this.

Re: Jiffydos Vic20 issue

If the screen shifts to the top and left that is a clear sign that you have installed an NTSC-JiffyDos. As you say you use a PAL-machine I assume that's why things don't work. You should first try to buy a PAL-JiffyDOS, preferably from a legal distributor like Jim Brain: http://store.go4retro.com/ji...
