Re: Game music

It is usually jsr'ed to in the IRQ. Tempo wise you have a decent amount of wiggle, as in practice you'll be holding notes; even a sixteenth note needs to be sustained for several screen refreshes. Music is done using tables, with values to feed into the registers, and a value to determine length. Ea...

Re: WIP: Doom

You're getting rid of all the black! Nooooo!

The lower gun looks better, but the hand just looks like it's open, rather than holding it.

Re: WIP: Doom

Like the face with the changes. A softer transition from black->blue, left to right in the letters would look good. I still think things like his back leg and shoulder look a little bright. I like the new look of the floating demon. His gun needs to pop from his belt more.

Re: WIP: Doom

His face is not a blob!

Looks good. The letters and gun look fine, although I think some bits of him that were in shadow before are too bright, and you loose the effect of the muzzle flash.

Re: Is Vic-20 = THE least powerful computer in history?

In my experience, in the US, when most people think of an old computer they think the apple ii line, that's because schools were flooded with them.

Who needs a manual when every game starts with a 15 minute instructional level? :P These days the insert of games seems to solely be the warning about epilepsy and radio interference. Personally, it's not a spy game unless I get physical documentation stamped "top secret" XD

Re: TRS-80 for Dummies

One of the coolest old school RPGs ever is on the TRS-80 CoCo is, Dungeons of Daggorath. It's a real-time first-person game where the faster you enter commands, the faster your heart beats, so sometimes you have to rest, and monsters roam and moan, each making a unique identifying call, getting loud...

Re: Spotted: Dungeons of Ekileugor

The reset is just because autostart defaults to load ,8,1 and the game wants ,8. Dragging and dropping the .prg sets the directory it's in as the "disk image" the vice uses so the load command works, I recall you can just navigate to the directory, but then the * wildcard doesn't work as n...

Some of my earliest memories of c64 involve this game. It's cool to see it in action on VIC.

I found one more, when the warning is given about your torch about to run out of light, if you "unlight torch" the area you are in will turn dark (even if it wasn't before). Again, I'm playing through pirate adventure.

I can force the stack overflow bug (at least in pirate adventure) by just entering an unrecognized command over and over for a minute or so.

Also you should allow the short hand directions "n,w,e,w".
