Re: Working version of Alien Demon?
It seems that the flamethrower was always working, it's just that I didn't have the instructions and didn't know you needed to go to the starting screen to assemble it. The only thing that isn't great is that when I used my original D64 version that I can break into, I added joystick support but whe...

Re: Working version of Alien Demon?
Thanks, Ian. That's tonight sorted! Useful to have the instructions. I mapped it myself on graph paper a few months back, but I see you got a map with it. And that Alien looks nothing like Giger's alien. Oh no. No copyright problems here. Not at all. Actually it looks like the alien needs a dentist.

Re: Working version of Alien Demon?
Great :-) If you manage to get a PRG or D64 from it then I can test the game if you want, so see if the flamethrower bug is there, as you may not want to play it much. I'm a big Alien(s) fan (it's where my username came from), so I like it as it's like playing Alien. I'm wanting to put a playthrough...

Re: Joystick problems with VICE TDE and real Vic-20
Thanks for the info. Just a badly written game. I'll just have to have a go in VICE.

Joystick problems with VICE TDE and real Vic-20
I'm trying to play a game and if true drive emulation is turned on in VICE it will only let me move right. All other directions don't work (though the game makes a noise, so detects something). On my Vic-20 I'm loading it through an SD2IEC and it also only lets me go right. It also displays a messag...

Re: Saving listings from new version of VICE?
Thanks, that works great, too.
petcat -2 -o test.txt -- "Star Quest.prg"
That gives me a great listing, though I'm not convinced by the indenting to keep the lines starting at the same place after the line numbers.

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book
I've used draft 2 quite a few times over the last few weeks when making my easier version of The Mysterious Island, so thanks for making it available.

Re: Trying to copy PRG from TAP to D64.
Brilliant! Thanks a lot, ops, and Ian and Noizer for having a go at it.
Finally I can play the proper version and do MUCH worse than before since I'll only have a few lives

Re: Saving listings from new version of VICE?
Thanks Mike. I got the printer method working now. The other one said READY, but I couldn't find the file anywhere. At least I can get the listing now, and I have looked at the game, fixed it in a hex editor (the line was much too long to edit even using abbreviated commands), and it seems to be run...

Saving listings from new version of VICE?
Until the last few days I've been using Vice 3.1 and saving listings by changing the Peripheral Settings for Printer #4 to be File System. Then I do open1,4:cmd1:list:print#1:close1 and it "kind of" works, then I do LIST again and eventually end up with a proper listing after cutting incom...

Re: Trying to copy PRG from TAP to D64.
Noizer, one of those TAP files I got from Ian (PERWILLY.TAP), and the other I found from an older topic on this forum, or might have just had for a while. The thing is, it works in VICE. On a real Vic they give extra lives, which is bizarre.

Re: Trying to copy PRG from TAP to D64.
I've opened the TAP file in DirMaster, which shows the PRG file. I then create a blank D64 and drag the PRG to the D64. It looks like this should work, but says the disk is full, when it's clearly much smaller than the disk. I see what you mean about the block size. 78 or 79 is about the limit for 1...

Trying to copy PRG from TAP to D64.
I'm trying to get a proper working version of The Perils of Willy onto my Vic-20. All the working ones give an extra life for each note collected, and the ones with correct lives have no music and a corrupt score. I have a TAP file that works in VICE, but when I try to use DirMaster to copy the PRG ...

Re: The Mysterious Island - full version, anyone?
Yeah, I'm glad I asked about this, as it's been fun to get it back and messing with the program to be able to finish it. Thanks again Ian and Simon. Here are some cheats people might want to use (die, then break at the RIP screen to change these, otherwise the characters will not be letters, or do a...
