Re: WIP - mystery port #1: Chaos

Dumped it on my sd card, removed the .prg extension, inserted my 16k ram expansion and loaded the file. Same as VICE 2.4 - it just hangs at the opening screen. :( Thanks for testing! Seems like VICE 3.0 has a bug. The bug in my code was a missing "sta $912e" on the IRQ init due to copy/pa...

Re: New Release: Demons of Dex

A fun romp. The music really sells it. The only recent VIC-20 game I've finished (score 6440). Thanks for the game and source, shame about the drama.

Re: WIP - mystery port #1: Chaos

That's really troubling. Works here on VICE of about 3.0 (compiled from svn around the time of the release). Can you test with 3.0? I'll dig up 2.4 and see if I can reproduce it. Tests on real HW would, of course, be the best. Meanwhile, here is RC1. Now should be bug free. All sounds are included (...

This is the most atmospheric 8-bit experience I've had since Forbidden Forest. Good job!

Re: WIP - mystery port #1

I had a muck about with the sound editor, but without good instructions for what I was doing, I just put in random numbers and ended up with a few clicks and not much else unfortunately. Thanks for trying. The editor requires knowledge on the VIC-I register; can't explain much further than the read...

Re: WIP - mystery port #1

For everyone to get their feet wet, here' s and excellent introduction to the game, and the reasons why it's a classic. Can't get that URL working for some reason; it either times out or complains about an internal error. Here is WIP 2. Now it should be playable without major issues. Still on the b...

Re: WIP - mystery port #1

If you did port Archon, you'd really need to implement the two player mode. When have I not? I fear the battle phase of Archon would be difficult to port due to the large changing bitmap arena. On that note, MULE can be four player so... how you doing that? ;) MULE needs simultaneous input only on ...

Re: Work in progress: REALMS OF QUEST V

These past couple of days I converted R'Zo's music player to work with the IRQ so that his music creations can play in the background. The music in Realms III put me off my first stab at the game. Noticed the music toggle option later; I hope it makes a comeback. (No offense to any past or present ...

Re: WIP - mystery port #1

Good guess, but no bonus points given yet ;)
Were I to port an early EA release, I'd probably tackle some labor elements of multiple use.

WIP - mystery port #1: Chaos

I'm working on the next port and could use some help. The port is about 75% done and needs more work before the first WIP release. The game needs some sound effects and I am not fond of fiddling with them. I find my time better spent (relatively speaking) on code instead, hence the attached editor a...

Re: VIC-20 Software Releases of 2017

One thing though, the numbers don't seem to add up correctly here. At least, they don't add up the way they do in every other version of 2048 I've every played. For example, if I join 2+2, this game gives me '3' (should be '4'). If I join 4+4, it gives me '5' (should be '8'). Is this on purpose, or...

Re: VICrossroads

Awesome port! We still don't have Wizard of Wor on the VIC, but this is the next best thing! GREAT STUFF! 8) Thanks. I recall this game described somewhere as "WoW on acid". Certainly more chaotic and it's always fun to shoot oneself in the back. I'm considering to port the sequel, but go...
