Re: Ghost

Dude, I rank this game up there with Shamus... This game deserves to be on a catridge!! [cartridge, I'm not from Boston] I'll give it it's own tape though for sure.

You could also write a program that copies a whole disk in one go, by storing the image in the RAM drive! But who does still use real 5 1/4'' disks?
...me. I use tapes too, often more than disks.

Re: PET keys?

Very nice! My PET vic looks exactly the same as bobbi's. It looks as though it was never used. I would have thought this was for sure, except that mine came with several notes from the original owner packed in the box, instructing various users how to load software from tape etc. Apparently, it was ...

Re: WantedL VIC Cart cases

Well that being the case, being a poor person I was thinking of a way cheaper method using a homemade vacuum forming machine(shop vac and some peg board and a used toaster oven). The mold would then be cast out of plaster. First the negative, then the positive. Two or three could be formed at once. ...

Re: Repairing a 8050 for my Vic

It kind of is...if you have the IEEE-488 cart :D. I have one of these drives, and it is in deplorable condition. When it shipped, all the parts, board transformer etc. are all loose and wrapped up to prevent the transformer from crushing everything during shipping lol. I'm not even 100% sure that th...

Re: Discovering the mysteries of the datasette

That is definitely good to know. I have a lot of broken 64s, and about 18 loose motherboards I picked up a while back in an auction for almost nothing. I bet most of them have a bad PLA. some of the loose are missing a lot of chips, so I am guessing whoever owned them was using the boards as a boney...

Re: WantedL VIC Cart cases

When is someone going to just do a run of these carts! They have been around forever and a day on the C64... I have seen so many projects for the VIC and they all require the destruction of another cart to make. I wonder how much it would cost to do anyway...

Re: Discovering the mysteries of the datasette

My chips are fake :< ... I just finally got around to checking. I pulled a lot of my tinkering stuff out of storage to fix my phone, and in the process, found my cache of chips. I apparently bought 10 of them and they are all brightly labelled and have the fake notches. Very disappointing. Oh well, ...

Re: Discovering the mysteries of the datasette

However, I would love to have color adhesives I can put on my fridge that makes it look like it's a vacuum column tape drive. I can only imagine the looks on the face of people coming to my place for the 1st time. Now that would be real cool! 8) That is such a fun idea! Paint it sky blue and then g...

Re: Discovering the mysteries of the datasette

Back on the VIC-20 storage topic, IMHO, the best magnetic Commodore equipment based storage for the VIC-20 is the 1581 disk drive with JiffyDOS. Ya, but it's not clunky and giant, and there aren't any arrays of wildly blinking lights! I Have to agree though. It's the best plug in solution to magnet...

Re: CBM engineer Bill Seiler to visit CommVEx!

Then the 2001 it is!!! It needs a lot of work by then...I got a pretty nice price because it was beat up pretty bad/filthy/doesn't work. I booted it and there is just garbage on the screen, which I assume is the memory. I also assume without question that when it does boot, the tape drive belts are ...

Re: CBM engineer Bill Seiler to visit CommVEx!

RATSSSSS :( I just realized that it was 2016, not the next one. *sigh* I definitely want to be ready for the next one though. What kind of computer should I bring :D. I currently have a few shelved restoration projects as things are a bit tight at the moment. Hopefully by the next show Ill be ship s...

Re: Discovering the mysteries of the datasette

Really fascinating design...typical of IBM then and now. Spare no expense, not even for pity sake. Did you see those solid gold connectors? what on earth were all those wires doing?! It looked like a AMD processor glued to a rope. I like their solution to apparently not having stepper motors. That m...

Re: Nice text

Well I managed to use HESMON for freeee :D! I figured out how to output the disassembly using the O command which switches the output to the "printer" which in my case was a text file, just like Mike taught me to do in basic, only this time applied to ML. I then formatted it with notepad +...
