Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

Hmm, I checked the USPS-site and entered your dimensions. The the cheapest I could find was "First-Class Mail International" ($13.50 to Germany, $6.03 to Canada). https://www.usps.com/international/first-class-mail-international.htm You can try yourself here: https://postcalc.usps.com/ Val...

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

PROBLEM: 1. Lulu only offers the lowest print quality available for global distribution. 60lb. paper. Sigh. (I promised heavy stock.) 2. Lulu only offers one sided covers! I planned the book for my printer and designed a four side color cover. 3. Coil binding is not available for global distributio...

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

"Unintended" seems to be the genereal consensus nowadays. "Undocumented" makes it read as if they were intented but just not documented. The "No More Secrets"-PDF that is updated each year at Christmas also calls them "unintended" and this seems to be the go-t...

Re: Mega-cart issues?

It could always be a bad connection. That other carts work does not say much, since the MegaCart may well use different memory-areas and pins than the standard game-cartridge. Have you tried plugging the MegaCart in and out a few times (at least 5?). This may improve the connection. I know my MegaCa...

Re: New Game: VICSTRIP

Haha when the VIC took off its box, I was a little excited. I thought it might strip down to the circuitry. That actually was the first idea, however the converted images of the mainboard did not look that good, so I came up with the idea of the "recursive" final picture for the VIC from ...

Re: FPGA 6561 - PAL Questions

Tokra, Mike - if I added Interlace to the PAL FPGA, do you think you'd be able to put together a demo that shows it off? Hehe, "able to" - yes, probably. Should not be much different than NTSC. However I am not really interested in doing so  Effectively this would only work on yo...

Re: Porting CP/M to the VIC-20: memory map questions

With a 160x192 mode you can get 40x24 chars. This fits in the 4K-area from $1000-$1fff. Use chars 16 to 255 at $1000 and start the character-RAM at $1100. This has been the standard-setup and has been used by MINIGRAFIK i.e. Otherwise you are correct. You cannot get more than 24K contiguos RAM with ...

Re: Conversion of VIC-SSS-MMX to CBM prg Studio

There are some "illegal"-opcodes describet in "no more secrets" and i found some interesting optimazion for the sprite stack. The SSSXYPrintS can be done by the LAX opcode instead of LDA/LDX and saves 9 cycles. The check with the newest SpriteStack version runs normal. Unless ab...

Re: New Game: VICSTRIP

Thanks, Mike, for posting this. I arrived back home at 10 p.m. yesterday and am just now "back to life". The idea for this game actually dates back around 12 years . The graphics-mode used for this was already finished in 2019, aiming for a 2020-release. Then the pandemic hit. I was also w...

Re: Commodore trademarks in Canada

In fact the Commodore-ROMs current owner appears to be Cloanto. At least they seem to have the best claim to those as the copyright-situation is kind of murky since Commodore's demise. Whether the claim is valid or not, what it comes down to is: Do you want to risk to be sued by Cloanto or not? See ...
