Cool. If I remember right, this was a GE Solid State 19" color from the mid to late '70s. We still have that tv cart.

Why would somone alter an expansion card like this?

Hi all. I've got a HesCard 20 5 slot expander that has the trace cut for the CD0 (Data 0) line. The cut is in slot 3 between the two soldering pads there, and was purposely done by someone. When I checked the lines with a multimeter, between the edge contacts and the slot brushes, I found that the C...

Yeah, I've still got mine as well. They were well designed. Durable and good for repackaging the computer for storage.
I think that's why you see so many VICs that still have it. It just made sense to keep it.

Wow, not too many so far. But it's a wonder we still have ours. It failed sometime in the mid 80s. It servived a move and about 20 years in storage in non working condition. If our family weren't such pack rats... oh wait, it's not that surprising then. :) Shoot, we got junk kicking around way older...

What mods did you make?

We still have ours as well. The only thing I did was add a heat sink to the VIC chip. (after replacing the old one. Why the heck didn't they heat-sink them in the first place? :? (rhetorical))

Well, who knew we'd develope a nostalgic interest in them all these years later? At the moment I've got two old pc clones sitting in my bed room that just seem like so much old junk. Maybe some day they too will reach the nostalgia stage and suddenly gain new value.

How many of you still have your origional perchased new VIC?

Just wondering how many of you still have your origional VIC that you got
back in the old days, while they were still current. (or relativly current at least) Perchased new or otherwise.

Was it your first computer?
Does it still work?

Found an old drawing of my brother playing our VIC-20

I found a sketch I drew from around 1982 of my older brother playing "Avenger" on our VIC-20 (which we still have) He is sitting on the floor of our old living room with the coffee table moved up to the tv. I sat in a chair behind him and drew this picture. http://www.flickr.com/photos/788...

Possibly. I was doing a lot of disk changing at the time.
Plus I was using a 1571 formatted disk with a single 250K file written to both sides.

I get this with my 1571 sometimes.
Is there a way to correct it?

Arcade: Probably sprint II or pong at a local bowling ally or supermarket. Even when they were still fairly new, the early monochrome games seemed archaic somehow to me. Still, a lot of them had great game play. I loved the old vecter graphics games like Asteroids, Tailgunner, and BattleZone. And th...

I tried the AT commands you gave me, but nothing changed. Thanks again though. :) I think I have the cable connections right now. It's gotta be the modem. Oh well, I have other ways to connect. The VIC-1011A came with a serial cable? Usually you have to pay extra for those. Is it a shielded or ribbo...
