http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgTYLuCvzMA This was done bei streetuff of TRSI for the VIC-20 a while back. I had a chance to chat with him at the Nordlicht-demoparty this year asking him what kind of scrolling this uses. As I suspected he confirmed it uses 4 pixel scrolling. For a real game I don't...

Even though I programmed the modes, I tend to agree with adric22 here - the higher resolution does not look as balanced as on the C64 - the pixels are just too wide on the VIC-20 especially in multicolor-mode. Also in fairness, the 416 vertical resolution is only possible with interlace mode. Nevert...

To keep the momentum, I've converted the Doom-title pic to MFLI (PAL) and MIFLI (NTSC). I wrote a small machine-detection routine, so that it even recognizes VICE and displays a fake MIFLI-picture in emulation, since VICE does not support NTSC interlace-mode. So, you can just start the .d64 on any m...

You need to press O (the letter) or Fire on your joystick to start. Since nothing happens after RUN this might fool you ;-)

The VICE-monitor supports watchpoints as well, I'm using this feature a lot when developing for the VIC.

If you're doing stuff in the zeropage or with the stack, it's probably a good idea to disable interrupts first using SEI. The strange effects you are witnessing could well be caused by the interrupt-routines kicking in

The Nordlicht was a rather small demo party with just about 50 people. The Revision-party is the largest one around with about 800 people from all over the world attending in Saarbruecken, Germany. I think I didn't post this: Here's the LIVE-showing of the "Yes Vic Can"-demo at the 2011 Re...

I have a 1084 and a 1901 an in comparison the 1901 clearly wins - it has just a beautiful picture. I remember back in the day there was a simple mod to give the 1901 an analog RGB-input for Amiga and the german 64er magazine (if I remember correctly) raved that this was the best Amiga ever looked.

infocom Infocom's text adventures. Nice. The parser isn't finished yet tho. It might be, one day. Awww, come on. Do we need to make this a Kickstarter-project? It looks like it's 90% done - or what is still missing? Would be great to have the Infocom full experience on the VIC finally. The w...

FWIW: Retro Gamer already had an 8-page-VIC-20 special in issue 46 (which should be roughly 5 years old). Jeff's original "Game Theory" 3.5K version was even one of the "Perfect Ten" VIC-20 games. And Denial is mentioned as the most important VIC-20-forum.

Thanks for the nice feedback. Since you posted this under the VIC can again -demo thread instead of the Retina Display thread maybe you didn't notice that these are actually two different demos: VIC can again presents a very high color flexible multicolor mode in 84x384 pixels, which can also displa...

This mode (192x416) was demonstrated in the "Retina-Display" -demo at the Nordlicht Party 2012 yesterday and won a shared 1st place in the Wild competition - I really should have voted for myself, I guess  You can find a screenshot, the download-archive and a YouTube-video in the ...
