I'm listening to it right now, looks amazing! :-)
Just wanted to report that, as with the other release, I had to rename the ML1 and ML5 files to lowercase or basic didn't load them (on vice, ubuntu; file extracted with file roller).

Sorry to revive this old thread.
I was wondering if, with contiki 2 (which on the c64 has dropped the desktop in favor of single "program+os" binaries), it is now possible to fit networking on the vic-20 port.

It's good to see even more people removing the dust from their old vic, as I did about a year ago!
Unfortunately (or not?), mine is the CR model, so a little less fascinating than yours (and less socketed).

For me the VIC-20 is number one because it's the first computer I used (I still remember that day), the first computer I had and probably the most liked present I received as a child! :-D

On a modern TV there are things like "image enhancement" or "noise reduction". Turn everything like that OFF and you have to adjust colors, brightness and contrast too of course. They all have totally messed up settings by default. Always. It's hard to understand why. I think it...

I don't know about the fe3, but in general you will never see more than that free ram on the start screen, because that's the maximum basic can see (at least on normal conditions). That's because the last 8k, on bank 5, are not contiguous (there is bank 4 in the middle which is reserved for the vic ...

I'm lining up getting an analogue display in a week or so to try it out. I think the simple solution is a modern lcd display with composite input. This way you can see the output pretty clean from tv artifacts and distorsion (which may vary greatly from tv to tv). I'm lucky my samsung lcd has compo...

I agree completely, it's an exciting time for the good old vic! Thanks to the great community down here.
I hope to be able to give my contribution soon by finishing cbmsh and/or a new game or whatever comes to my mind :-)

I was wondering if the young people of today feel for their pc (or smartphone?) what we felt back in the days.
I'm not talking sentiments of course! Just enjoyment, interest and wish to learn.

I remember having arguments with friends who had the spectrum:

- my spectrum has better games!
- yes but as long as it doesn't fry!

But - we were 10 or something.
