Re: Raster split and $9002
Once again here is the charflow-testprogram by Lance since the link above is dead. In fact since the program is so small and simple here's the source as well: 10 c=11 20 for a=0 to 255 30 poke 38400+a,0 40 poke 38656+a,0 50 poke 7680+a,a 60 poke 7936+a,a 70 next a 80 c=c+1 90 poke 36864,c 100 poke 7...

Re: NTSC interlace detail info needed
Did some more digging. Hope this doesn't cause any more confusion. :) Thanks! The more insight the better. In the NTSC version [...] (HSYNC normally starts at X=62). This number actually reminded me of another yet-unsolved-VIC-mystery: http://sleepingelephant.com/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?f...

Re: PAL version of Creepy Corridors?
I've checked my MegaCart-image which has the PAL-fix (more like universal PAL/NTSC-fix) for this. It leaves $9001 as is and takes $9000 from ROM ($ede4) and increases it by 2. Comparing the ROM-image with the one from Zimmers, nothing more was changed. Please find attached.

Re: 9-color Block Graphics BASIC Extension for Unexpanded VIC 20
Hey, that's a neat trick using multicolor-mode for the 9th color and exploiting the fact that the block-pixels are using the right bits to use this color!
I was using a similar trick in my ColorRun to have both orange and brown on the screen at the same time.

This is what I found in the PET-FAQ: http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/pet/html/Commodore%20PET%20FAQ.htmlhttp://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/pet/html/Commodore%20PET%20FAQ.html "The 12" 4000/8000 series PETs allow you to change case by printing a control character: CHR$(14) - Text...

Re: Yet another UltiMem tool: RAM test
Mine looks fine as well. You should probably test your UltiMem in a different VIC-20 to make sure it's not just a faulty VIC-20 or expansion port.

Re: UltiMem: don't INC/DEC bank registers
I seem to vaguely remember that using inc and dec on any IO-register (instead of memory) is never really a good idea. Maybe because of ghost-reads or ghost-writes. The details elude me right now.

Re: What size of memory do most VICs have now?
I'd say go for 35K-expansion if that is what your game needs. All modern expansions of at least the last 10 years provide that (MegaCart, FE3, Penultimate, UltiMem, ...) and people serious about using the real VIC will have or get that expansion anyways. All the others can use VICE. If you like the ...

Re: A good book or written piece about large resolutions on VIC?
Basically when using larger screen areas on the VIC you just need to adjust the registers from $9000 to $9003 and make sure the result still fits on most display devices, otherwise your target audience will shrink considerably. Also there is the differences between PAL and NTSC so it's a good idea t...

Welcome back! Glad to see the old Denial-folks checking back in. No Wizard of Wor yet, but I noticed recently that Victragic (of Frogger 07 and Pitfall-fame) changed his profile picture: http://sleepingelephant.com/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=784 So maybe he has somethi...

Re: Introduce Yourself: What's your User Name based on?
I noticed that after more than 11 years on the forum, I never introduced myself  My username is based on the first syllables of my first and last name: Torsten Kracke = tokra I have that alias since the early 90s I think, and some years before Stargate SG1 made the word "Tokra" po...

Boulder Dash Preview
Peiselulli of tRSi has converted Boulder Dash for the VIC-20. He is still unsure what to do with it, so there's no download-link, but just this amazing preview on YouTube:
