Re: Display issue on PAL VIC-20
You need to make the s-video mod. This known issue is due to chroma creep. Are you still selling those solderless mod cables? Or do you have a diagram of it? I have seen the written instructions but a diagram would help. (Though honestly I'm not a fan of s-video, I never seem to have much luck with...

Re: "joystick killer games" for the VIC20?
I'm not in Soviet Russia but I find that Joystick breaks me. I think as far as people breaking their joystick is depends which one you had. Zip sticks had a solid metal pole down the joystick and microswitches for the directions, so not likely to break that. The Championship Pro joysticks had very p...

Re: Display issue on PAL VIC-20
What kind of display are you using? I've seen this same thing on many modern digital displays that upscale the analog video to higher resolutions. What kind of lame ass noob do you take me for? :D http://i.imgur.com/AcniptXl.jpg Thanks for the response but I think the answer is inside the vic-20 pu...
Re: Snake
I got to 138, but usually when I finally die it doesn't feel like it's really my fault. I realise it's just a programming exercise but if I had a comment for it I would say the controls are not responsive enough. I will be going straight down the screen then I'll press 'right' then 'up' but the righ...

Display issue on PAL VIC-20
Since I've been playing ab out with my vic-20 I have noticed that sometimes graphics can be difficult to see I always thought this was just the way the hardware was, but just checking since the vice emulator doesn't replicate it. Should some colours look like this? https://i.imgur.com/ofo6yxG.jpg or...

Mod an MD 6-but pad to work with Vic/C64 & GX4000
I am planning to modify a 6 button megadrive pad (just using the threen main buttons) for use with the GX4000. Is there a way to wire it up to keep the 2nd fire button functionality for the GX4000 as well as make it safe for use with a VIc-20 / C64? (I was going to wire button 3 to be a duplicate of...

Re: Introduce Yourself: What's your User Name based on?
27 years I was a 12 year old boy who liked horror and gore and stuff. My first name began with si, my last with c, so I was si c and I was sic.
And I was a fan of the roadrunner cartoons.

Re: Brand new joysticks from China
Myself I am looking to rewire a ko mega drive 6 button pad. Mainly because it's a good pad and the cheapest Atari connection joypad you can buy. Mainly was thinking of wiring it up like an amstrad gx4000 pad with ABC being 1 2 1. I don't use the Atari joysticks if I can help it. Lately I have been u...

Re: Games we want to see
I was looking through the games for the vic, and there's a glaring ommision. No Beat em Ups. Correct me if I'm wrong, this could do with a "scrolling" beat-em-up like Double Dragon or Golden Axe. One problem is only one fire button so only punching no jumping, unless maybe you could do a j...

Pixel Productions (circa 1982)
I've been looking around and disovering the games released for the vic 20 and I have been quite taken with the games by Pixel Productions. With the quite polished design and cinematic feel of their productions which is unusal from what I've seen on the platform usually. The Trader Trilogy Encounter ...

Re: WIP: Doom
Wish I'd seen this post before I go the doom.d64 and ultidooom.d64 and tried ulitboot doom.prg etc.
Worked it out in the end also switching all dip switches to ON on Eslapion's 35k expansion.
Impressive game.

Re: WIP: Manic Miner port
Been having a play on this managed to get past Eugenes Lair. Noticed that the conveyors behave a bit different, if you land facing the opposite way you should be able to hold position and jump on the spot till you release the opposite direction button. Certainly a good port for saying the system it ...

Yeah Chuckie Egg is sorely missed from the vic 20.
