Re: vc20 composite/s-video mod picks
well I HATE drilling holes in cases and figured this way was the least of 2 evils so yes in a way I did it so you cant accidentally switch it , and to hide it all that will happen if it does get switched is the composite is B/W , so you can easily tell what mode you are in and switch it back the mod...

Re: VIC20 Diagnosis cart and 'octopus cable'
I hope you are happy with the harness
due to the total lack of interst in my projects I will some day complete the vic20 cartridge board to go along with the harness
but I am in no rush

what you really want to find is the really old keyboard with the little suction cups instead of springs for the keys
that is 1 interesting keyboard to take apart and clean ...lol

Re: 2nd VIC 20
so why do you keep asking me how its done? sounds like you are on a ego trip! I will go make a new thread with picks and instructions so you can pick it all apart and offer no valuable help in that new thread to and I already know I will need to show 10 different ways to do it and you will find some...

Re: 2nd VIC 20
its not rocket science , even I was able to figure it out as I stated earlier in this thread I added the resistor and cap and switch and 2 wires I cut the trace between 4-5 lifted one end of FB7 off or out of the board , the side that connects to c13 so the FB7 is still attached to the 6560 and sold...

Re: 2nd VIC 20
I moded the vic20 with a switch for composite or s-video
the yellow is only used for composite
the red and white are only used for mono audio
and it has a s-video end that is used only for the s-video

Re: 2nd VIC 20
a basic plug n play model could be done with the adapter like you say with minimal components everything needed could easily fit inside the sockets dead space under the IC the issue I see is getting people to agree on what is a acceptable board some will say use the KISS method and others will say y...

Re: 2nd VIC 20
a plug in s-video board is easy to make for the vic-20
the big issue is not all vic-20`s have socketed 6560`s
so you would need to unsolder the chip and add a socket , defeating the plug and play aspect of it
I guess for the lucky people with the socketed vic20 it would be a good idea
