Re: Specialized VIC-20 use
We discussed this on Denial about 15 years ago (the hardware, not the 8-bit guy obviously)! There's an old article about this somwhere online. Nice to see someone has found an actual model to show on YouTube. I think this basically lays down SMPTE stripes on tape and syncs everything to it through M...

Any way to access Usenet from VIC-20?
Does anyone know of a service whereby I can access the Usenet via a VIC-20 and my wifi modem?
I think it would be fun to browse comp.sys.cbm using actual Commodore 8-bit hardware.

Re: NEW C64 GAME : Athanor - The Awakening (VIC20 version coming soon)
I'm playing this game now, but is seems strange. One frustrating part is that many directions in the game are not logical...i.e. if you exit a room by going south, then go north, you do not end up in the room you came from. Many times to go back to the north room, you have to go south. This happens ...

Re: Tour around the abandoned Commodore buildings
Some commentors on YouTube were trying to figure out when this video was made (and came to the conclusion around 2015/2016). I had read a text description of the contents of the building. Apparently there were also some silicon wafers found in there, and these were rescued. Amazing to see that there...

Re: Realms Of Quest V - tell your progress in-game!
Well, I played at first with real floppies because I wanted the real experience - just like how I sometimes use the datasette to remember the complete experience of using old Commodore 8-bits. I was actually not *too* bad. I changed eventually because every monster encounter meant swapping disks, wh...

Re: Realms Of Quest V - tell your progress in-game!
I've finished the game (as of August 30th, 2020)! Played on a real VIC-20. Started out with actual floppies, then about 1/4 of the way in switched over the an SD card with uIEC. Thanks for making the game, Ghislain, my VIC-20 has never gotten such a work out. Probably will play "Two Days to the...

Re: VIC-MIDI - where is it headed?
I did that too - play it with an external keyboard. What I'd like to do is be able to do some basic MIDI receive / transmit stuff in BASIC. I know BASIC isn't really fast enough to do anything complex for MIDI, but I'm not a super great programmer, still learning (even though I've used a VIC for 40 ...

VIC-MIDI - where is it headed?
Hi, Did anyone else buy a VIC-MIDI cartridge? It does not seem to have been developed for (i.e. no support software other than what came out initially and was very basic). The documentation is so sparse I'm not even sure how to use mine. I would even consider trying to program it, but I cannot find ...

Re: Realms Of Quest V - problems with save slots
What happens when you take the same .d64 image file from the SD card in your VIC-20 and try to play and save from VICE?

Re: Realms Of Quest V - problems with save slots
How do you know it won't save your game in any of the slots, what is the indication (flashing light on drive, error message)?

VIC-20 lab in a UK school in 2019
My jaw dropped (in a good way) when I saw that a teacher in the UK had a functioning VIC-20 lab he used to teach students programming and problem solving concepts:

Funny VIC-20 hardware mystery
I posted this on VCF but think it should be posted here as well. Today I went to log onto a BBS using my beloved VIC-20 with a WiModem modem in its user port. I booted up my terminal software and typed ADTS=1, but got no local echo on screen. Uh oh. So I looked at the WiModem and its OLED screen and...

Re: Realms Of Quest V - tell your progress in-game!
I am about half-way or more through the game. I've found all the shards on land (villages, towns, hidden outside) except I need the Book of Nikademus (sp?) to get one remaining one from a town leader. I've just started the dungeons and have so far completed only one dungeon, the Tomb of Horror. * a ...

Re: Graal for sale
Yeah, but not having any idea it would be worth much more in the years to come, I probably would have opened it, thrown away the box and just kept the cassette and instructions (which I did at that time as a young teenager).

Re: The Thing version 1
I wasn't sure what to do. The "thing" seemed to change among people two or three times each turn, making it hard to follow. The text formatting could be improved so that there are no words split between lines, and I'm not sure why the text was pausing at random places. Some simple instruct...
