For me, not having to design it, source the parts, solder it, debug it, buy an eprom burner, etc was well worth the money. It does exactly what it is meant to do and is better put together than I could manage, even with a month of Sundays. Well, I am flattered... Thank you for your feedback!...

The one thing I'd change about the Vic is that I would have included a better BASIC, something closer to what the PET had. PET's Basic V4 IS available for the VIC. As a matter of fact, it is me who gave it to Ward Shrake back in the late 90's. Last summer I discovered that ONE byte had been corrupt...

Eslapion: I think Boray wanted to point out that these CMD hard disks, CPU and memory expansions - of which some were specific for the C128 - did exist still back in the days. These are not products Maurice Randall developed himself; it is old stock that he has a license to sell. One or two product...

The poor forgotten Commodore 128
I recently managed to get my hands on a very nice Commodore 128D. Since I also happend to have a 512k expander, I figured, the combination of both should result in what could probably be called the most powerful vintage 8 bit system ever made. But I am amazed at one thing. There is so few truly powe...

I have an original one...damnstraight wrote:I do not have the original, but I made two Isepics years ago by copying a freinds that I still have. I wanted to know if these are still around and if they are somewhat rare. The only Original I ever saw was the one a friend let me use to copy it.

hmmm... a VIC 20 with vacuum tubes... like an old stereo receiver... sounds like a fun project. Nice, warm analog computations, games with a bit of wow and flutter. HAHA. I like that. It does have a nice feel to it! Yes, and it is going to require that you have a 900W power supply and water cooling...

And because the VIC, unlike the 64, does not get CPU cycles taken by the video chip...Boray wrote:Yes, it's the fastest, but the vic-20 is faster for games because of the big characters.DigitalQuirk wrote:According to Boray's link, it actually looks like a C128 running at 2Mhz is going to be the best BASIC machine.

I thought of something I can call the NVA or New VIC Architecture. Here's how it works. Have all the RAM from address $0000 to $2000 in a single 8K chip that is accessible on all its range to the 6560/6561. Have all the customs chips and color memory adresses located in BLK5 instead of BLK4 and the ...

What about OS/2 Warp? I bought that in 1994 for $40 at a computer show (red spine, needed Windows 3.1 disks for Windows application support) and installed in on my DX2-66 with 8MB of RAM (they claimed it could run on as little as 4MB of RAM, but it thrashed terribly). It came with IBM Works and Onl...

Re: Datasette problems
Okay, I finally scored a Datasette. It's a piece of junk, with a door that's broken and very difficult to close, but it does work. I tested it on my C-64. Connected to my Vic, it's a different story. When I type in "Load," I press play, the computer recognizes the "Play" button ...
