Not only that, but the Plus/4 and 16, while great machines in their own right, weren't around long enough and weren't as popular as the Vic 20, and rare wasn't a good thing for me when I was a kid. In the summertime in the early to mid 1980's, after delivering my newspapers, I'd love to hop on my bi...

The 2 pronged Vic was, at the time, Commodore's only home computer, using chips that were meant for commercial video arcade machines. I would imagine that the quality of those chips would have been higher at this time than when the Vic 20 was the cheapest colour computer with a real keyboard on the ...

I'm guessing they wanted to build the power supply entirely within the Vic 20 itself, to make it more like an appliance. I would imagine that a part of the power supply was moved outside of the Vic to help with overheating issues.

Eslapion recommended putting a heat sink on the video chip, which I think is a good idea. My Vic is like yours. I cut a hole in the RF shield lid over the VIC chip to accommodate one of Eslapion's heat sinks:

I think we need to be aware of how we apply the term "Racist," so as not to dilute its meaning. For instance, at a time of war, it's natural for the people of the country being threatened to harbour a general hatred towards those who would attack them; but this hatred isn't based on race, ...

Tramiel often made it clear that he saw the Japanese businesses as a threat to domestic businesses such as his own. For example, when he said, "The Japanese are coming, so we must become the Japanese!" illustrates that he harbours no racist undertones, as racists tend to believe themselves...

I find the best video option is to split the cable from the RF modulator into separate audio and video feeds, plugged into something like a 1701 or 1702. I don't think the output can ever be razor sharp like today's standards. I believe this was the original reason for people opting for monochrome b...
