Yep.
How are you supposed to get across the water and capture the one in north Africa as the Teutons? :P
You can reach Carthago either over Sicilia or (impractical though) Gibraltar.

Re: Postings about 'Emulation and Cross-Development'

Some time later, another bunch of misplaced topics again: Convert assembly source files to CBMProgStudio , Help needed with cc65 BLK5 cart app , Lowercase char set when using CC65 compiler , CC65 Question , Transferring PRG files between PC and Commodore , Favorite Tools? , Simple online character e...

Re: German Magazine - Type-Ins - 64er

Cheers. Just so I'm not going mad here, what do the units look like on the map? I'm sure I tried pressing fire and moving them but nothing appeared to happen. The Roman unit look like small castles and are strewn across the map, and the units of the Teutons look like small huts, and concentrate in ...

Re: German Magazine - Type-Ins - 64er

Big bump here... but if anyone has English language instructions for Imperium Romanum, I might give it a proper whirl (and add them to GB20) so I know what I'm doing :p The instructions of Imperium Romanum span a full A4 page in the special issue of 64'er. Here's a rough translation. Cheers, Michae...

Re: WIP: FAST-40

Um, nope. The mechanics of scrolling happen against the text buffer, not the bitmap. I guess I'm not explaining this properly, [...] Rest assured, I actually got it already as I wrote my previous posting. [...] but then again I have the whole thing in my head and can see how it all hangs together v...

Re: WIP: FAST-40

God no - having the renderer dictate system character I/O rate would be ... insane. I'm quite sure, that under 'normal' circumstances the character rate won't ever exceed something like 1000 characters per second. If you take the LIST command as example, I took one arbitrary example program, where ...

Re: WIP: FAST-40

Scrolling and other line-based operations happen asynchronously to the render, so in fact things move around very quickly. Ah, ok, that means you won't use the renderer to scroll the screen. Good. Still, if you take the line renderer out of the interrupt, and make BSOUT draw single glyphs instead, ...

Re: WIP: FAST-40

1. Not entirely sure what you mean here, unless you're suggesting drawing individual glyphs as they change in the text buffer rather than the entire line...? [...] you'd [...] need to [...] modify _CHROUT to call the renderer as characters were sent to the screen. [...] in situations where a lot of...

Re: WIP: FAST-40

Nice! I had a quick look over your blog about this side-project, some questions: - You're using a dirty-row scheme, and a 'big' interrupt-routine to redraw invalid rows. The underlying KERNAL API is single character only, though. Don't you think it might be more sensible just to draw the glyph direc...

Re: Help identifying this cart-thingy

So, Atari VCS could play VIC carts ? I knew of vaporware (i.e., Protecto's adapter) that was intended to do exactly the opposite! The VCS here does not refer in any way to the Atari VCS, rather it is the cartridges intent: V IC C artridge S imulator. Nothing more. The four 2016 SRAMs most pr...

Re: MG Text Edit

People would surely forget they're only static screens :P Really, that's not the point! It's much more 'cost-effective' to mix in the text into a partially filled screen (as your example shows) with routines that take the text base from 'normal' ASCII data in memory. That also allows to scroll the,...

Re: MG Text Edit

If I only had time, I'd use this editor for a text adventure. :( You'll have to keep in mind though, that MG Text Edit handles everything you type in as pixel data only, you don't get the equivalent of the ASCII data somewhere else in any form. So this is only meant for static text inside a picture...

Re: Is Vic-20 = THE least powerful computer in history?

He doesn't have his data in order though... "Of course I bought the 5K add on expansion pack" - The 5K what? That's also roughly when I stopped reading. But then, people in the 'net keep talking bullshit about the VIC-20, when they could have known better. Further down in the discussion, ...
