The sound is not synchronous when I use the link above. Try playing it in WinVICE or on original hardware - or just switch off the sound!

Intersting thread! :) I sold my "VC-20" with a 3K and (I think) 24K (were such things available??) cartridge to get the money to buy a C128. The next (and 2nd) I bought was 2004 or '05 and this machine's still working. My main interest in the computer was programming right from the beginni...

New Release: Coppa Reloaded

Encouraged by your nice replies and to get back into programming the VIC-20, I just published the "2012 edition" of my 1985 game Coppa with 4 new levels on my VIC-20 website (3rd download from top). Hope you enjoy it!

Thx for reply. The problem was, that the built-in monitor obviously can't access the drive when in directory mode. When I use the disk image mode, it seems to work fine.

Solved: How to use S and L commands in WinVICE monitor?

No matter what I try, I always get an "cannot open" error when I use i.e. S "test" 8 1000 1DFF From BASIC interpreter I can access the virtual disk in drive 8. I have to admit, that I didn't search the WinVICE website, because I thought, s.o. here might have the answer ad-hoc. :w...

Today an old friend of mine from Texas proofread the contents of the page, so now the meaning should be understandable for native english speakers too... :D

VICE, on the cursor keys. Might be easier with a joystick. It's about as much plotting the optimum route to cover all the squares, rather that worrying about going over ones you've already done heh. Ah, thanks for the hint! I redefined the joystick to normal cursor keys and... TATA! Finished the fi...

My guess: It's a damaged RAM. Have a closer look at the screen: It's always Bit 0 of a character, that is 0 where it should be 1: First line should read: CBM BASIC V2, but: the C is a B (Bit 0=0 instead of 1) the M is a L (Bit 0=0 instead of 1) the A is a @ (same thing, ASCII A=65, ASCII @=64, again...

Just had a brief look onto it, but... Did you double check line 10 of the loader? With the POKE 51 and POKE 52 commands, you manipulate the end of the string memory area. But with POKE 53 you only manipulate the low byte of a pointer that is called "Utility String" in my Memory Map and wit...

That's great - I know, it's possible, but I didn't manage it up to now. Do you play on VICE or original hardware? Do you have a joystick?

No, I never published the other games before, but it surely would be nice to find them inside the gamebase! With my recovered knowledge about the memory map, I managed to run the 2nd generation of my redefining character tool (with both multicolor and double height support). I just added it to the &...

Thank you for your kind replies and hints! @GreyGhost: Yes, I loved the idea with the blinking cursor, too and I spent some time to include this gag :D Might you give me brief instruction, how to change the load addres for the games? I didn't know that WinVICE is able to start programs via Drag&...

My old stuff online

I just opened my "VIC-20 resource page" with games (and some other stuff) I wrote between 1985 and 1986. I'm sorry, it took me over 1 year to keep my promise to share my old programs here. Here is the link, hope you enjoy it: http://vic20.lenneserver.de Thank you very much to the users &qu...
