Re: Winter start on third cranking

So you're saying it's not possible to replace the internal transformer with the UBEC?

Re: Winter start on third cranking

So being lazy I have ordered a PSU from Ray.

I have a few 2 pin vics. Are these then at risk even when operating from a good psu due to the aging internal regulator?

If so, can they be modified intenally with a UBEC?

Re: Winter start on third cranking

I have a few of both types, but the two in question are both 5-pin.

Re: Winter start on third cranking

Thanks, it's interesting that I only noticed this after swapping out my regular vic as was having issues with the WiModem.

Any way to check which power supplies are good?

Winter start on third cranking

Recently fired up one of my vics from storage. What was noteworthy is that it took three attempts to boot up, a bit like an old car on a cold morning. Attempts: 1) a flickery screen that went black after a short while 2) flickery screen with random characters visible then froze 3) booted up fine Any...

Never knew of a 3k version. Makes the programming even more impressive.

Re: VIC-20 Isometric game prototype?

Ha ha, that would be a worry if you found a bug after committing to silicon...

Perhaps a cartidge with an embedded ESP8266 ($1.50) that updates itself over WiFi and with online hi-score. That would be cool
