Re: My PCBs are here!

Excellent! They look really snazzy, love the black.

If you're interested in designing your own PCBs, Fritzing is a decent (free, open-source) entry-level PCB design package. http://fritzing.org/ Doesn't have pro features, but it works well enough and is easy to learn.

Re: VIC-2000 Expander. Modern Power Using Retro Parts!

Anyone in out there in Ontario have something in good shape for sale? I'm in Toronto and have some spares, but that's still quite far away...Ontario is huge! I see you're close to Thunder Bay, do you know Robin Harbron? He's got a decent collection of Commodore equipment and is very knowledgeable, ...

Re: New VIC Cartridge Cases from Sharewareplus

Yeah, that's pretty pricey, plus this I noticed this:
COMMODORE VIC20 - CARTRIDGE CASE CLEAR - PRE PRODUCTION
THESE PRE-PRODUCTION CASES ARE PERFECTLY USABLE,
PRODUCTION UNIT CLOSES TIGHTER
When will we see the "production unit" ?

Re: SuperCPU for the Vic-20

I am interested in one! 8) From what I read (I admit I just skimmed the thread so far), the approach sounds quite similar to that taken by the Vextrex32 cart: http://www.galacticstudios.org/vectrex32smartcart/ They also have dual-port RAM and have a small stub on the 6809 that communicates with the ...

groepaz wrote:sure it can be done, why not.... you'll need a small microcontroller, a bit of glue logic, and of course a VIC chip :)
You already have a 6502 microcontroller and glue logic inside your VIC 20 ;-)

Just add MIDI with one of these: http://store.go4retro.com/vic-20-midi-cartridge/ :D

Re: Vic 20 with almost no color

There are a couple of adjustable potentiometers that affect the video signal, under the metal RF cover. Try tweaking those!

I found I had to have quite different levels between a TV and monitor.

Re: Need advice on Oscilloscope probes

We have a couple of these at work. They're (relatively) inexpensive and pretty handy. In addition, since the display is on a PC already, it's easy to do captures of the waveforms or logs etc.
