I suppose you mean at what price you bought each computer? Prices used to drop quite a lot over time, perhaps even faster than they drop today. 995 FIM sounds like you got your VIC-20 in late 1984 while 2995 FIM sounds like you bought your C64 in late 1983. Obviously that must not have been the way,...

I wonder which are the fastest, most timing critical VIC-20 games. Those you could use as benchmarks to see if your setup is fast enough. It may depend on where into the game you are.

I recently bought an used 15" TFT monitor which has VGA, S-Video and composite inputs. It is a noname brand and used, so I get what I pay for. In VGA text mode (MS-DOS) the characters flicker and bleed a little. In composite mode (VIC-20) the screen just barely keeps sync, but I blame that on p...

Perhaps it would be a good idea to publish voters' comments anonymously next year so outsiders don't get the chance to hang particular voters. It seems much easier to criticize than participate, even if participation only consists of playing a half dozen different games, make up your mind and in thi...

In the video, only Z80-based TRS-80 models are used to illustrate his speech, but it doesn't mean he would distinguish a TRS-80 from a CoCo.

I don't know about the UK, but in Sweden the Atari 8-bit computers were expensive as sin. At one point in time you could get one and a half C64 for the price of one Atari 800XL. Edit : Err.. make that 1.8 C64's for the price of one Atari. That is you could get a C64 + 1541 for the price of the 800XL...

For those who can't wait to see the video clip, here is the list: 1. Commodore 64 2. TRS-80 Model I-IV 3. Apple II/II+/IIc etc 4. TI-99/4A 5. Amiga 1000/500/2000 I agree with Mikam, definitely an US centric list. I like how the host praises the expandability on the TI-99, although it took a horseloa...

P.S. What's the deal with a judge having an entry? Golan and others, how many times do I need to repeat myself? There is no such thing as "judges" or a "jury" in the MiniGame Compo. Anyone can participate in both the compo and voting. All it takes is to download the games, give ...

I happen to live just next to a "cheap" airport (*) and no matter how much one may dislike Ryanair, on this particular trip their flight tickets are 1/3 of the regular flight companies. One could argue if you're anyway going on a long weekend to the UK, spending $300 or $500 is no differen...

I just checked some of the C64 games on that site. Most are displayed without borders, while some are including borders and shrunk in size. Some have partial borders, see e.g. Delta which uses a lot at least of the upper for score display. Perhaps it is not considered border anymore if the area is u...

Diddl: Of course a Pong game is possible for almost any platform. Usually it will be much smaller than 4 kB too, depending on how smooth graphics you need and what the system can produce. However for a true Pong experience one often wants analog inputs. I am not sure a PET has any analog inputs but ...

Congratulations to Jeff-20 for winning the 4K MiniGame Compo!

http://minigamecomp.org.uk/2009_4k_results.html

That makes at least two Denialers compo champions, as Robin has won it so many times he would barely be allowed to participate again. 8)

Travelling arrangements depends a lot on when flights arrive. If you're going by Ryanair, please note their timetables may get revised past Sunday, March 28. In some cases the changes can affect your planning by whole days! In my case it seems the only two options is to depart on Friday afternoon (o...
