Perhaps you realized an SX-20 means anyone could grab it and run, and you lose the whole setup in once. Such thoughts might get you in a strange mood.

No idea. Consider the VIC-1001 would already be on the Japanese market at the time of writing that article. In theory it would give Commodore at least six months to gauge actual demand for the VIC-1112. Given how expensive those IEEE drives and printers surely were - even compared to the 1540 and 15...

Yes. This program copies Basic from ROM to RAM and switches out the ROM. Then it makes a few patches: $A854 JMP $C0CA (was JMP $E386) $A841..A856 (VIC $C841) STPEND - Save (CURLIN) in (OLDLIN) and exit if READY (if carry set = END) or ERRFIN (if carry clear = STOP). $B08B JMP $C079 (was LDX #$00; JS...

Perhaps that is an extended form of integer variables, one that can handle integers > 32767 and can be used in FOR loops?

You can download all Ahoy disk images here:
http://www.bombjack.org/commodore/magaz ... -disks.htm

The file you are looking for is ahoy1985-04.d64. The Faster program in question appears to consist of a loader (3 blocks) and a main (?) program of 17 blocks.

Well, it seems vintage computing/gaming related dreams are far more common among us than some may admit. I'd even think some of you have repressed dreams. 8)

Besides, I wonder if those VIC-20 trackmos support the 1540, i.e. if its ROM and memory map is equivalent enough to have 1541 programs run inside the drive. If the two drives are fairly different on the inside, it would be a bit pointless to pair the VIC-20 with a 1540 since the majority of disk bas...

A few nights ago I came across one of those stores with an impressive selection of unheard of computer games. This time it was both VIC-20 and other titles, most for those really obscure systems like a whole array of cartridges (!) for the COMX-35 and also Sord M5. Quite a lot of the titles were eve...

Hm. Apart from the DC3, FE3 and those OEM carts I should scan, I have in the past two months only added one single VIC-20 tape. I don't know if most of you really pick up new stuff more often?

Actually I encountered something similar before when I plugged in my Mega-Cart into a known broken VIC-20. It seemed to corrupt the NVRAM and refused to start when plugging it into my working VIC. After issuing a reset as Mike points out, the NVRAM got cleared and it works again.

I know at least one Commodore user who part of the year spends his time in Antarctica. But he's more into PET than VIC-20, I believe.

Yes, I definitely agree on that the computer and floppy drive were almost equal in price. It almost held on for its whole lifespan. I just want the VIC-20 to have cost about 1300-1700 FIM at its time unless it was greatly discounted due to overstock.
