Re: Request for a *good* scan of Home Computing Weekly #20 ...

I disagree, I pointed out that it was possible to zoom in and read the text. You got it wrong by exporting. You argued against it in your first post with an export image then half corrected yourself but were ungracious in your next reply. Please and thank you works well to get someone to do you a f...

Re: Request for a *good* scan of Home Computing Weekly #20 ...

Vic20-Ian, I'm asking for a reasonable favour, not especially on my behalf, but to get things going about somebody else's problem. That favour could be done in a 5 minutes work scanning and uploading the scan at some place. I'd reciprocate with type-in work, a functioning program and when I get the ...

Re: Request for a *good* scan of Home Computing Weekly #20 ...

Those two pages are the same 'quality' I got from the view function in archive.org. The scan is 970x1392 pixels, which correspond to roughly 120 dpi - and from the looks it's most probably interpolated from 60 dpi. If someone wants to ruin his eyes on this, go ahead. Not me. And I am not going to co...

Re: Request for a *good* scan of Home Computing Weekly #20 ...

As follow-up: the viewer in archive.org gives a slightly better result - somehow the export function wrecks the rest of readability:

Still not anything I'd want to stress my eyes with over a substantial amount of time. :|

Re: Request for a *good* scan of Home Computing Weekly #20 ...

This is how a zoomed view of the mentioned *.pdf displays on two different computers I use:

So - either you have access to a different *.pdf, or we don't share the same judgement about the readability of the listing. :(

Request for a *good* scan of Home Computing Weekly #20 ...

In the sense of the sub-title of this section, "History and Preservation Issues": http://www.sleepingelephant.com/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=8506&start=18 ... in the quest of reconstructing the program "Mazes make the game... here's how to construct them". There's a ...

Re: Super Expander

Richard sent me a version of the program that had been typed in, however with the difficulty in reading the scan it had many errors and they were what I was trying to work out using CBM Prg Studio. Regardless whether the original typist used the scan, or had the paper copy available and "just&...

Re: Super Expander

The text is really small and the scan is low resolution. Beyond hope, actually. It's impossible to type in the program from this scan. Might be sensible to post a request for a better scan in the "Collecting and History" section in the hope a Denial member has access to a paper copy of th...

Re: Counting "trick"/memory copy

Usually, copy routines on the 65xx with LDA/STA (),Y modify Y with INY/DEY instead of doing a costly INC/DEC on the low-byte ZP address base. That way, the fix-up of the high-byte only needs to be done on over-/underflow of Y, simultaneously for both src and dst pointers, and doesn't require indepen...

Re: Super Expander

If you provide a (link to the) scan, I can take a look at it.

Re: SuperCPU for the Vic-20

If I hadn't had so much on my plate already (Arukanoido, Ultimem, tapesondemand.com, etc.) I'd jump right in. That copying loop is really refreshingly clever but let's talk applications. Moving memory that way is still spoiling the fun. Any chance to wedge in hardware copy? EDIT: Even if it was onl...

Re: SuperCPU for the Vic-20

The internal RAM ($0000..$03FF, $1000..$1FFF) is not accessible from the expansion port, for the same reasons the VIC chip cannot access anything at the expansion port. The details of this have been discussed here in Denial often enough, no amount of wishful thinking is going to change that. A Super...

Re: Super Expander

It would be nice to see your graphics routines as an expansion. MINIGRAFIK works fine as is, and I have no plans to change its distribution form. For smaller client programs that use MG, and during their development and tests, it's entirely sufficient to load and run the MG executable (thereby inst...
