Re: Survivor RUN

Oh, according to the programmer's readme/instructions, the missiles can hit the wall and even hit & destroy an enemy base! I did try, but was not successful. He also writes that he does not remember if they can hit the floor. Well, they can! And in the process they do destroy a bit of the barrie...

Re: Survivor RUN

Very stylish animated intro screen. I have never seen anything like it on Vic. In-game graphics are great too with good use of multicolor for "sprites" and explosions. Way too hard, but the combination of the barrier destructive capabilities of bombs, thrust, and enemy missiles hint at pot...

Re: New Game: Emu's Massive Hunt (WIP)

Neat mix of hi-res and multicolor. Multicolor is used sparingly but enough to spice it up. The hi-res->mc change when the emu drops into water works and can almost be viewed as a "water fx" :)

Re: Verbix by Fabrizio-Caruso

Bewildering at first, but not so bad once the underlying 15-sliding-game mechanics have been understood. Enjoyable, but each game session is too long for me. Perhaps a time bonus for completing a level would help (e.g. points for each empty tile).

Re: New Game: FiZZ for Vic20 (35Kb)

Hey, how did you know that my favorite level also was my last completed level? Elementary psychology, I guess  Anyway, yesterday I completed a few more. Level 17 & 19 were surprisingly easy (pleasant surprise). 20 was also quickly solved, but mostly through a little trial and error. Level 1...

Re: New Game: FiZZ for Vic20 (35Kb)

Some feedback from me. (I have only tested the one-player, one char levels) Pressing up for jump while pushing left or right (i.e. a long jump or running jump) is inconsistently handled. Left results in a flying jump, right in no jump at all. (I do understand that long jumps over chasms, as typical ...

Re: Documenting the unreleased/cancelled/prototype video game "Ice Palace"

This ticks almost all my boxes for a great Vic game. -Smooth jumping platformers were a rarity on Vic in the early '80s and action puzzlers were even rarer. This combines them! -It has music (and a melody 13-year-old me would have recognized from a favorite childhood kids-LP). -It has fruits – loads...

Re: Vic1001 game list

I lifted the game from the TAP and exomized it, so it can simply be started with LOAD and RUN: ( download ) For all intents and purposes this is a true port of the Xevious arcade! The intro tune, the (only slightly annoying) background whistle tune, the flight over an extended landscape, and the ic...

Imagine this back in '82. This + Jelly Monsters would make the ultimate "Vic 20 does what Atari 2600 doesn't"-argument.

Re: The Perils of Willy Ending

Good job Snarko! It's easy to miss that we are seeing the first level following the last level as there are no level numbers on screen, and certainly no room names like those of Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy. I guess we should not be so surprised of any missing congratulatory message  Still a g...

Re: Is there a V/H scrolling Football game for the VIC?

Vic does not even have a decent top-down, 360 degrees control, racing games - neither scrolling, nor single screen ones. It's easy to imagine the excellent Omega Race modified into a racing game. The static screen homebrew port of Hat Trick is as close to football you get http://sleepingelephant.com...

Re: AndyH is working on something AMAZING

Looks superb. I have rarely, or never, seen such use of colors on Vic. Shaded multicolor graphics look richer - and IMO better - on Vic compared to C64 as Vic has more actual color, i.e. instead of several shades of gray. Boulderdash is another recent example of that. The game itself looks very prom...

Re: Boulder Dash Preview

Wonderful. Compared to the C64 version, it shows a little less horizontally and a little more vertically. The playing area (excluding the status bar) must be 232x208. Is this done by the same guy that did the Gianna Sisters scrolling background demo?

There was a very well made BASIC C64 game, Trolley Follies, a few years ago.
