Re: Music engine with PWP waves

Hello the tup program runs only on Vic20 unexpanded strange because music programs work usually with all ram expansions. Oh yeah! There's some weirdness with RAM expansions that I don't know about, I'll have to look into that stuff. Right now I'm building it for unexpanded, then once it's working t...

Re: Music engine with PWP waves

I was messing around with this again, I tried it on my real VIC-20 (NTSC) and strangely was getting the same result. I noticed that if you swap out the middle channel for the high channel, the PWP wave works consistently...and if you swap it out for the low channel, it doesn't work at all. The way t...

Music engine with PWP waves

Hello everyone! I'm trying to write a music engine for the VIC-20 and I have a few questions. I'm still pretty new to coding in assembly, though I've made something similar on the Atari 2600. What I have so far is a program that runs through all the notes in a note table. I'm trying to get those not...

Awesome! I transplanted a C64 keyboard out of a spare, apparently it was the keyboard afterall. That was an entirely easier fix than I anticipated. The ol' VIC-20 can type like it's new again.
Thanks for your help guys!

Did you disassemble the KB? It sounds like it could be a broken trace on the KB PCB. Hm...I did take it apart, but I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I suppose I'll re-disassemble the thing and see if anything's up. Actually, would a C64 keyboard work in the VIC-20? I have a few of those...

This column also covers the '7' and '8' key - do they work? Looking at the schematics, that pin also doubles as the cassette write line - can you see if you can save programs on the cassette? 7 and 8 actually work. I don't have any cassette tapes lying around to test saving with, but I'll see if I ...

Replace the entire motherboard? That can't possibly be the only thing left to do. I'm perfectly comfortable soldering and desoldering ICs.

Specific keys not working

Hey guys, maybe you could help me out with this. So I hooked up my VIC-20 and noticed that certain keys weren't working: Y, U, G, H, V and B. I took the whole thing apart, scrubbed it down thoroughly and made it nice and clean and...those keys are still dead. I suspect I probably touched the joystic...
