does this work for the Vic20? Yes, that works quite well. Those interfaces come in various flavors, but are basically an audio to C64 / VIC-20 / C128 digital (TTL) signal converter. I have a similar device from the 80's and connected it to a cell phone. If you’re devoted enough, you can even put pi...

I couldn't find my original copy of these that I posted! Actually it's my pleasure :) I use the collection very often to try new (to me) games. I remember I altered something in the directory structure to fit my needs. So I've uploaded the archive I downloaded back in 2011, that should be the origi...

Here you go: http://content.wuala.com/contents/lordbubsy/SD2IECSBS/denial/04/sd-vic.zip I keep all filenames and directories lower case and 16 or less characters long. In each directory is a LOADER and a LOADER.BAS file. The LOADER.BAS files are in plain text format so you can edit them on a PC. Whe...

When I hit F3 to open the Disk Loader the thing just crashes back to the FE menu. You probably have no LOADER file in the root directory. When you hit F3, the Final Expansion 3 tries to find a file called LOADER. It's a script file telling what to show in the menu and where and how to start program...

I got into the VIC-20 since November 2011 and my interest is more hardware oriented. I now have two modded 2-prong VIC-20's, one PAL and one NTSC. One of them is always connected to a Trinitron TV set and most of the day it's turned on. So my C64 and C128 are sitting on the shelf and looking a bit (...

My first sight of a Commodore computer was at high school. However it wasn't a VIC-20, but a Commodore 64 with a colot tv-set and a datasette. They only had one, but that was enough to fall in love with 8) They had a cassette with games like Moto Mania, Choplifter etc. After school we used to play f...

Don't forget this fabulous addition: 512k ram disk mode! I've included Task Switcher for FE3 and RAM Disk for FE3 as third party software :) I don't know if it's only me but Acrobat Reader replies that there is insufficient data for an image, which I suspect is a missing image on page 1 as I see a ...

Thanks eslapion and Mike :D
My "prototype" is working!

I'll just have to rebuild it a little neater and add some switches for controlling ON/OFF, READ-WRITE/READ-ONLY and RESET.

Re: Adding a reset switch to the expansion cart

Hello! I wanted to add the reset switch to my ram expansion cart. I understand the switch should bridge the RST pin with ground. Unfortunately, on my cart the reset pin is not connected, no copper line there. Is there an easy way to add the missing copper in order to be able to solder a wire to it?...

You need to differentiate between the address range of the 6502 and the address range of the RAM chip. That was the key, now it's perfectly clear to me. Thanks a lot! For the most part it's correct, but, as Eslapion already wrote, you need to connect the R/W pin of the RAM chip to VR/W on the expan...

Well, to be honest, those other two schematics were google finds, and it was my way trying to understand and eventually build a VIC-20's RAM expansion. But I've not found any schematics of the VIC-1210 3K, VIC-1110 8K or the VIC-1111 16K expansion. Do they exist on the internet? However, I'm definit...

Thank you for the explanation. I think I understand most of what you're saying. What I don't understand is how you get this true table? 1 /BLK1 /BLK2 /BLK3 /BLK5 A13 A14 /CS 2 1 1 1 1 x x 1 3 0 1 1 1 0 0 0 4 1 0 1 1 0 1 0 5 1 1 0 1 1 0 0 6 1 1 1 0 1 1 0 7 8 (x: don't care) Let's assume block 3 is ac...

Trouble starts when a cartridge is added I see, I have a Final Expansion 3, and I have added the resisters on the upper side of the main board at the IC socket. So that should be safe. Though I have to order some components before I can test on that board. The VIC-20 expansion port has address OUTP...
