It could definitely be done. Did it need to have a special connection for the sound or did it somehow loop it back into the VIC's video connection?

So if I stick to 24X28 I should be safe and get a bit more playfield. Thanks!

Maximum screen size that works

Hi everyone, The VIC's default screen size is 22X23. Now it can be expanded by appropriate pokes, as nicely explained in vintage Compute! magazines and al. But if you inflate it too much, you'll lose some things because they are going to be "outside" the tv screen. What is the maximum size...

Brings back old memories. To me the unpacking of my VIC made that Christmas magic. Christmas has never been more exciting!

... And the game is very well programmed Sorry but I can't agree. The program is very difficult to understand. I modded it at first to get rid of the time constraint and it took me forever to do this simple task. Now that I "got it" I play the unmodified version ;-) Thanks for sharing you...

GOT IT!!! Some new sampling. It could have been anything, but I like Journey and this one is from 1983, so it fits ;-) Needs 16kB RAM expansion. The main routine is 206 bytes, the rest is the highly compressed data. Keep in mind a standard mp3 file is typically several MB!!! NTSC version: http://www...

Thorough hardware knowledge surely isn't necessary, but at least a bit of it can help to understand why things work as is on the VIC-20: I like it. I wish my wife would talk like that to me once in a while! - The colour RAM is actually 1024 4-bit nibbles in size, and ranges from 37888 ($9400) to 38...

The flicker problem is about the time where the object isn't there. Doing a clear screen is quite long, it is better to just erase what you need, and even then put back the new stuff right after without any delay such as calculations (do all calculations BEFORE you erase). You can mitigate the effec...

Is it such a bad thing to write a game for the VIC that there is no previous version of? People usually always compare it way too much to the original, and to do a proper job you need the original to give a proper feel, which usually can't be achieved because of resolution differences, smmothness o...
