Re: New physical cartridge release: Cheese And Onion

A package with the early Christmas-gift to myself arrived today:

I'll have both fun playing and cracking it using my XPANDER-3 and SD2IEC.
Of course my cracked copy will stay private :D

Re: HASL for cartridges? (split/OT from: Cheese & Onion)

The game looks so great that I really don't care if the cartridge destroys my VIC-20's port connector over time (the likelihood of which seems pretty low at that)! Misfit, please don't be angered by a single, poorly voiced opinion. eslapion probably means well, but issuing a warning to people not to...

Re: New physical cartridge release: Cheese And Onion

I would like a digital version for those people who buy the cartridge. Otherwise I will have to crack it myself  (but keep it private of course).

Re: Paddle Games

gave it a quick try, cap in parallel to the paddle certainly has some interesting side effects - but it doesnt solve this problem :=) Thanks for checking, since I'm a noob with soldering and hardware-hacking, I was going to wait until the next "Connected"-party near Hamburg to ask the loc...

Re: Paddle Games

v5 will have jumpers so you can override the autodetection, so you can also use amiga mouse (or ST mouse) - i could enable the middle button check for vic20 though if there is demand for this. I don't see a reason why the check should be *disabled*. As proven by the driver an Amiga-mouse can be pol...

Re: Paddle Games

I think nowadays, it should be pretty simple to make a 'perfect' or 'ideal' paddle for the VIC-20 using tricks similar to those employed by the 1351. totally. in fact, i have implemented this for the upcoming micromys v5 adapter - and its rock stable. Oooh, that sounds interesting. I suppose more i...

Re: Cartridge designs released - Eagle PCBs

The Future Was 8 Bit now has freshly made VIC-20-cases for sale: https://www.thefuturewas8bit.com/index.php/shop/cases.html I got one of the "Pre-Production" ones which is very nice already, the newer ones are supposed to be even better and 2 GBP cheaper as well. As such personally I see n...

Re: Paddle Games

Tokra, You could try adding a small ceramic capacitor on that pin to the VIC chip...the fact is that the line from the joystick port has to travel a very long way across the board and this could cause some inductance. Placing a cap near the chip between that pin and ground may help with the jitteri...

Why not upload the files to zimmers.net (where they belong IMHO)?

Re: 6561 Die Shot Reversing Explorations

I can't remember if its possible to change a character halfway through it, e.g. changing the color byte. Obviously the Character RAM won't be fetched twice as there is no time for it, but the color RAM could. Anyone knows (or has experimented) around this? I have experimented with this and don't th...

Re: Paddle Games

My Mega Cart says the following are also Paddle Games: Space Snake Star Post Oh, and if you want to solve a mystery: find out why almost every VIC-20 suffers from bad paddle jitter even with brand new paddles. I've checked three pairs of paddles on the C64 and VIC-20, and while they work fine on the...

Re: Trying to load Doom but need help please

The Memtest really only works if 35K RAM is installed. It is not optimized for other use cases. The crosstalk you see with the 3K+16K RAM cart would suggest that it makes the memory visible at BOTH places and that will not work if you have another expander in your system. You need to make sure that ...

Re: Trying to load Doom but need help please

Memtest, when run, says "Filling memory" "Please wait 7 minutes" Then it says "Error in 1024" "Break in 70" This means that the 3K-RAM-expansion does not work as it should. Maybe you did not activate the slot correctly in the port-expander or the 3K-expansion...
