Re: VIC Game Club No. 7 – Game Theories

I think 26 is the best I'll get on Game Theory 4. It took me quite a while to get this high. Game Theory 4 akator 26.png I've enjoyed all of the different versions, but 3k is definitely my favorite. I like the custom graphics in the first 3 versions. I appreciate a kind of "purist" element...

Re: VIC Game Club No. 7 – Game Theories

So far Game Theory 3K is my favorite. It has both "puzzles" from the 2 previous games and new ones as well.

My high so far is 29.

I really like the intermissions. It's a nice touch. I usually don't get that far, though.

Re: VIC Game Club No. 7 – Game Theories

I decided to start with the first. It seems simple enough, but the fast pacing is a real killer. My best so far in Game Theory (1): 22

VIC Game Club No. 7 – Game Theories

Jeff Daniels has given us some great games over the years. That they are all created in BASIC makes these even more impressive. The Game Theory series of mini-games are simple, fun, and humorous. They also provide an interesting philosophical look at video gaming, then and now. Game Theory 1, 2, 3K,...

Re: VIC Game Club No. 6 – Omegas

Too busy this month to really delve into these fine games :( Yep, I'm having that problem as well. But there's no fixed time limit, so I'm hoping to catch up in the future, put some time in, and post some scores. However, I doubt that I'll ever be able to top some of the scores already posted :D

Re: VIC Game Club No. 5 – Berzerk MMX / MMX+

I enjoy Amok. While it appears to have been inspired by Berzerk, the slower pace makes it a much kinder and relaxing game without being so easy that it gets boring too quickly.

In hindsight, I really should have included Amok and other Berzerk inspired games in this round...

VIC Game Club No. 6 – Omegas

Omega Race was a 1981 vector arcade game. Even over three decades later, the VIC-20 version still captures the fun of the arcade original and shines for its playability. Modern VIC programmers released 2 noteworthy additional titles inspired by Omega Race. In 2004 “Boray” Anders Persson gave us Meg...

Re: VIC Game Club No. 5 – Berzerk MMX / MMX+

I seem to average around 2K. This 5550 is a outlier. I've made it to 5100 once, but my next closest score is around 3800. I'm a little better than when I started, but it is now clear I'll never be setting any records :D MMX seems more difficult than some other versions because Evil Otto shows up so ...

It is also strange that they focused on Commodore and Sinclair, not really conveying how common cassettes were as a computer storage medium. Almost every brand of consumer computer in the late 70s and early 80s had some way to use cassettes, either through generic cassette recorders or proprietary c...

^ Done. In the past I sent other inquiry emails usually on or around the anniversary of my order, but after no replies since 2014 I figured the project was dead. Life gets in the way of the best laid plans. I was pretty disappointed at one point, but no money exchanged hands so it isn't worth gettin...

Re: In the making: Arukanoido – an Arkanoid clone

This is very impressive and fun.

I understand the desire and challenge to make it as arcade perfect as possible, but I like the minor differences from the arcade version. That gives it character :)
