I got an email that I was on the list for a MegaCart. One of the saddest days in my life. I am crushed. We aren't in a good place financially, and I've been selling off my collection. It is bad enough to be in that position, selling off things I love, and the VIC is one of the things I have to part ...

I must have missed some discussion somewhere, so forgive my ignorance... but why were these removed?

VIC appreciation

I actually never had a VIC back in the day... but I really wanted one. First I had access to a TI-59 with the matching printer, which I diligently use magnetic cards to play games on. Next was an Atari 2600, then a Sinclair ZX-81 my father assembled from a kit. I really wanted a VIC, but he brought ...

I agree the original could have been edited and proofed better, but I still enjoyed the book immensely.

I never knew it was selling for so much. I guess I should the first edition off, buy the second, and still have money left over?

Has anyone ordered and received a Mega-Cart since April 2? Are they still being produced? The web page says 6-8 weeks, but I ordered mine back in the spring. Sure, I haven't paid anything yet, but I still keep dreaming of having a Mega-Cart to use with my beautiful ViC. Should I give up hope?

There's more legend than facts about Apple's first years :? . Few people know that Apple was at least only third in the world market, well after Commodore and Atari, and also after Sinclair in England, and MSX in Japan. The myth was created afterwards, and obliterated all precursors other than Appl...

I really wish I had the funds to bid on that lot of 43 carts... I guess I'll just have to hope for another awesome auction like that to show up some other time...

I'm interested as well, nbla :)

Retrobrite works, but I've had uneven and unpredictable results with the paste. Immersion in liquid has worked much better, but large quantities of hydrogen peroxide are required for larger items. Gallons of H2O2 are not cheap :(

Wow... looks like a ton of people showed up and it was great! I wish there was something similar near me. Unfortunately, I now live in "the mountains" and Appalachia, so there is little chance anything similar will ever be within "reasonable" driving distance of a few hours. Stil...

IIRC... but that's a big "if"... Unless there is a disk in the drive at startup, the computer automatically goes to Applesoft BASIC. When you see the "]" it means that you are there. The disk operating systems (DOS and ProDOS) were disk based and were usually loaded by having a d...

Congrats on the selling price :)

I'm not surprised. I ordered my Mega-Cart on April 2 and don't have one yet, so I suspect the wait list for Mega-Carts is pretty long (at least longer than the 4-6 weeks stated on the website).

I was tempted to bid on yours, too ;)

So playing in that personal sandbox is a great way to learn where the enabling technologies are headed, so when it comes time to implement it in an enterprise datacenter, I have a good understanding of what's cooking already under the hood, so to speak; it is invaluable to me as my continuing educa...
