I bought one of his Computer Saver devices about 10 years ago. It was a real pleasure doing business with him.

Re: New penultimate-plus-2-cartridge
I saw the 8-Bit Show and Tell video on YT last night and despite already owning a Mega-Cart, I'm tempted. The random game selector is an awesome feature and it's already drawn my attention to some games that had gone under the radar .

Re: Raspberry Pi 400 - Computer in a keyboard!
I'm actually on a Pi 400 right now (Twister OS) and it's been my daily driver for a couple of weeks now. Twister has a very handy implementation of Retropie which saves a lot of micro-SD card swapping and I haven't missed an x86 desktop at all yet. I can't pretend that a Pi 400 would meet everyone's...

Re: Xbox Series S... the best VIC-20 you can buy!
I was messing around with BMC64 the other day. It's a bare metal VICE implementation for the Raspberry Pi. I put it on a spare 3B+ I had lying around and while it booted fine I couldn't get it to recognise the buttons on either my generic PC gamepad or the 360 gamepad even though the system picked t...

Re: An idea for a useless project
I think I'd rather have a VIC-20 laptop than a Me Too Osbourne. I've never liked the SX-64. It's about as portable as a mainframe.

Re: Emulating the Atari 2600 on the VIC-20? Hear me out...
The best emulation the VIC-20 can do is through direct ports. Even with its own software library, I still regard the VIC as one of the best systems for early 80s arcade games. There are a few shortcomings compared to the 2600 (particularly noticeable with a comparison between the Centipede ports for...

Re: Mini Jini Cartridge for Sale
On the other hand, this post got me thinking that it would be fun to track inventory for my VIC-20 software "business" on a VIC-20. You know, how many tapes, cartridge cases, PCBs, labels, EEPROM chips, etc., I have on hand. The (c)1983 here is really interesting, and it's probably why so...

Re: Mini Jini Cartridge for Sale
Surprising lack of interest in this rarity. The auction is three days old and there are currently no bids.
I guess collectors aren't quite so willing to break the bank for 40 year old database programs.

Thank you very much for this. The Romik games tend to be overlooked which is a shame because they're great.

Re: Megacart is back
The closest thing I have for functionality that matches the Mega Cart is the Turbo MMC for the BBC MIcro, that knocks the SD2IEC into a cocked hat, and is almost as fast as the Mega Cart. A Gotek floppy emulator also works very well with the Beeb and has the added benefit of working with the DFS, A...

Another game I forgot to mention in the other thread is Chip Buster (also on the MMC):

Re: Just got a VIC20, now what? :)
I'll have to try Snapper on my Beeb later. I have it on the MMC card somewhere, and I now have a nice shiny Joystick adapter for it! One thing I will say, the BBC version of Jetpac doesn't look or sound nearly as nice as the VIC 20 version. Personally I think the vIC version is actually better than...

Re: Loading device and streaming Vic20 software
There isn't much going on for our beloved VIC20 these days so I decided to start a little project. Don't know where he got that idea from? There is a similar thing for the Speccy. You plug a tape connector lead from your Speccy to the headphone jack of your mobile phone and stream TZX files from an...

Re: Raspberry Pi 400 - Computer in a keyboard!
Been using the Pi 400 for a few days now and I'm completely hooked on Python homebrews. I love how it's so easy to tweak the code for a game in the IDE and the ideas for improving and changing games just keep on coming. What better toy is there than a gamer-friendly programming language that can run...
