Re: What programming environments are you using?

Check out SublimeText3 for text editor (Windows), it's really good. You can create your own modules for coloring and highlighting keywords and such.

Re: Favorite Game Programmer (any platform)

Good ones Mike. I liked Andrew Braybrook's development "blog" he wrote when he developed Uridium II. I have a special relationship with John Twiddy, as I started my assembler programming "career" by typing in his machine code monitor; dismon from a magazine (was up all night whil...

Re: Games we want to see

Yes, I also believe a really good version of defender should be possible on the Vic-20.
Check out Stargate aka Defender 2 on the Atari 2600 for example, that game is very good.
I guess you all know how limited the Atari 2600 is compared to a Vic-20.

Re: Usefulness of a MPS801 printer (?)

I remember back in the day, a friend of mine made a program that printed gray scale images on a matrix printer by writing the same line several times.
You would need an old ink ribbon with almost no ink left for best results.

I'd say FE3 is a must have. If I ever complete my game, it's gonna be needed. :)

Re: Programming Mah Jongg

It's funny, I have just last week been playing Mahjong on a Sord M5. It's a very rare cartridge for Sord which I bought from Japan. I think the game is identical as this one for MSX though: http://www.generation-msx.nl/software/hudson-soft-japanese-softbank/mah-jong-crazy/release/174/ It doesn't use...

That game was pretty cool. I have never tested my Supercharger, maybe I should try it with this game.

If anyone is interested in interrupts, here's a nice page about it.
It's not Vic-20 specific, but 6502-specific.

I can't say why it doesn't work, but I've done vertical scrolling myself. I didn't use your method though. My method only works on a monochrome screen though (well atleast the top and bottom character row). What I did was changing the color instead of setting the width to zero. I used inverted chara...
