INRE: 2-prong Versus DIN Power Supply

Hi, Guys -
Been away for a while - time to jump back into the fray.

Nice discussion on P/S's can be found at Hardware & Tech Forum, pg 4, "Older 2 Pin PSU", Tue Nov 24, 2009 6:04 pm.

Hope this helps -

Hello RJ - When I first did the P/S experiment, I checked the schematic and traced the board and found that the 9VAC lines passed completely through the VIC to the users port. Along the way, it branched out to a small rectifier/filter cap. that ended up as the cassette motor drive. As I had already ...

VIC-20 Power Supply

Hello, RJ - I also have a VIC with the round P/S connector (the P/S does work, but, it gets VERY hot!). By checking the innards of the VIC, I found that the brick does the regulating - thus the heat. I hooked up a surplus 5 Vdc, 2A switching P/S to the Vic and it works just fine. It's now my back-up...

Morse Code Key Oscillator

I'm testing the oscillator with a ham radio interface that requires the input tone to be within a certain frequency range. 369.994 Hz (F# 4 on piano) works well. Hi Guys (and possibly Gals) - I realize that this is a little late, but, have you considered the tone oscillators (in the VIC) directly? ...

. . . jittery paddles -

I find this rather interesting. I just read a blurb about 'jittery paddles' in the WIKI section - come here to find that that is the lastest issue to be discussed, go back to WIKI to document it and all I get there is a screen full of crap! AARRRRGG!! Can someone tell me what's going on around here!...

Any interesting uses for the user port

As a matter of fact - YES ! :D . I originally picked up my VIC to control a very large model ship. And now I'm adding my large scale outdoor model railroad. Several years ago, I ran across some books that pointed in that direction, so, I picked them up. The books are: 1. "Electronic Circuits fo...

Trouble with tape drives

Hi Jeff -- . Here's my two cents worth -- do degauss the heads ! ! You are dealing with magnetic materials (which includes the heads) and the heads WILL slowly become magnetized over time - and will start degrading data on the tapes you are playing ! ! (Also, your recordings start to become degraded...

Re: Older 2 pin PSU

I think this has a higher Amp (I think its 1.9 Amps output) is it OK to put this in to an elderly Vic or should I get some other supply? Thanks Tarka[/quote] Hi Guys :D I've been waiting awhile to see what idea's come across on this subject. It looks like there's room for my two cents worth. So -- w...

Re: Post subject: How Did You Learn Electronics?

ASA? You old-timer! ;) You should have let them train you! My MOS series was 33 (electronic warfare maintenance, now 35T), and the component-level training was killer. We did 22 weeks of theory (7 hours a day, 4.5 days a week) and 25 weeks of systems theory of operation, troubleshooting, and mainte...
