Re: Bulk order of ProtoCart PCBs?

I have several carts that are VIC-only that I could probably make you a good deal on if they are of any interest to you. Unfortunately you'd still have to get them from the US to Europe...

I have used the Comet with a Vic but unfortunately I've only used the RS-232 portion as I didn't have a network connection handy at the time. I have never done any bbs communication, only talking to CommodoreServer. As I understand it, Comet v2 will have some modem emulation built in. Basically, the...

I didn't think of that (or know that about Jeff), I knew someone in highschool that was colorblind and couldn't tell greens from blues, I'm not sure if that is common or just specific to his case. Anyway, I'll try not to go too crazy on colors on this program, and I was thinking maybe inverse video ...

Monochrome monitor users?

I am working on a program (a non-game) and was thinking about using color to separate text in different areas on the screen. I realized that this wouldn't work so well on a monochrome monitor, but I don't know if there's anybody out there actually using one. I have a neat green CRT monitor that I ha...

You might want to get a Flyer, I've talked to the guy who created them, and it will work great for the VIC. It plugs into the IEC port and gives you ethernet, TCP/IP handled directly by the device, and a 4 meg flash drive.

Thanks for all the info, that's interesting about the mega cart. One last question, what does the /SRQ line do on the Vic? Looks like it enables fast serial on the 128, but I assume the hardware was connected to something in the VIC-20's day.

Sounds like there is no way for a device to get the attention of the Vic without special code on the Vic looking for such a signal. BTW, yes, I am implying that Commodore made a specific piece of hardware for this, specifically the 1540 which will load and run a USR file at power-on. I'm thinking of...

Can a serial device control the Vic-20?

I suppose the question isn't 100% clear from the subject. I'm wondering if a device on the Vic's serial bus can somehow force the Vic to load data into it's memory and execute that code. Something along the lines of the way a ROM cartridge is detected and run. Is there such a thing as an IEC command...

Aside from having one to complete a collection, I don't know what good a switch box would be. At least here in the US, there is no more analog TV being broadcast, so there would be nothing coming in on the antenna terminals.... I agree about using a/v cables :)

You can use a "PC" drive without any mods to the 1581, but you need one that has jumpers for drive select and disk change and ready. The newer ones are super cheap and don't have the jumpers any more. I went through my old drives and used google to figure out what will work in the Amiga, a...

I have the #6 ready to go and it looks like it will be about $5 to send if I keep the package light. I'm not sure about the 6502, I might be able to find one but for right now I've actually had a couple dead C64 keyboards to use for parts, so I'm not actually sure if I have a dead Vic or not.

Hi Joshuadenmark, I'm sorry it's taken me almost a month (!) to get this done, but I have the 6 key removed from the keyboard and ready to do. I wanted to make sure that you still needed it before I packaged it, but I'll have it at work with me tomorrow where I can determine the weight and calculate...
