File transfers via 3.5" floppy disk
I am now the prowd owner of a Commodore 1581 floppy drive, and I'd like to know if there's a way to copy files to the VIC using 3.5" floppy disks. If I write using Commodore's native format, I can do that with either 1) a Linux based PC, 2) an IBM AT running DOS 6.22, 3) an A1000 running WB1.3,...

I have released a small program here a short time ago, which does create a D64 image from a 1541 disk on a SD2IEC/µIEC. I cannot find it, but it is simple BASIC with a few lines assembler code. You can modify it easily to write back a D64 to a disk, it is very simple. I'm curious, would this also w...

Re: 1540 auto-boot?
There are many VIC-1541 with the very long electronics board inside of them. These boards have exactly the same part number as those used in the VIC-1540. If you change the ONE rom chip in the VIC-1541 with VLEB that differs from the VIC-1540 with one of the same content as the VIC-1540 then the on...

Has anyone reverse engineered those 40/80 column cartridges? Maybe someone even considers developing a brand new one, ideally one that does colour and custom graphics and/or sprites. Or would that be cheating on the VIC chip? I'd love to see a clone the DATA-20 if I could, the hardware seems simple...

There is also Miner 2049´er for TI-99/4A, Gameboy and IBM PC. Never seen PC version for sale, but maybe TI-99/4A version some day. I have the Miner 2049er for the TI99, I don't know if you've seen one, but it's a very weird cart. Instead of plugging into the cartridge port like you'd expect, it act...

TI and the VIC20 are almost the same, just a different voltage for the modulator as someone already noted. Atari had the modulators built into their machines, so they didn't have a need to supply power on the 5 pin DIN. After the composit video, audio, and ground, this left two pins that they used f...

I've got a VIC with a couple keys broken off, I picked it up cheap off of Craigslist origionally for parts, but now am thinking of finding a C64 keyboard for it. Either way, I can rob more keys from it if you want, I just don't know if it's the model you're after or not. Plus factor in the shipping ...

Nice, I just picked up a Vic off of my local Craigslist and it has two keys broken off. I initally got it just as a part machine, but then after reading this thread I thought I might find a new keyboard for it. I thought the C64 keyboard looked about right but I've never owned one, now I know what t...

I realized that I forgot one key question. If I download a .prg file from the 'net, do I have to do anything special to transfer it to the uIEC? I mean, I suspect that the uIEC contains emulated disk or partition files, and that a .prg is an actual Commodore program file that should be located on on...
