Re: Is this a particularly low serial number and if so, should I be excited?

Ah, thanks for the link.

It's an NTSC version but I don't remember the country it was built/assembled. I will look shortly when I get off work.

Thanks!

Is this a particularly low serial number and if so, should I be excited?

As the title says... I've come across another VIC-20 that's in pretty bad shape but nothing that couldn't be cleaned up (although, it's missing a few keys). But what really caught my eye is the low serial number. Well, I think it's low. Now, I don't have it right in front of me but I think it is 843...

Question on serial port

So, I am designing my third 6502 SBC. This one is going to have a throw-back to many 8-bit computers I love and one of those things is a real "1541 serial" port like the VIC-20/C64. My design has a couple 65C22's so I thought I would do a similar layout that the VIC-20 uses. However, I'm a...

Re: Caveman

Decided to dig out the VIC-20 emulator and give this a go. I really liked it! I never played the tabletop version. I hope you finish this. It needs a nice boxed release. :-)

IMHO, this is the perfect type of game for the VIC-20. Simple, but fun with great graphics.

Re: WTB: VIC-20 case and/or keyboard

I totally agree.

The breadbin case is so iconic to the C64 (even though the VIC-20 had it first!) that it surprises me no one has replicated it.

Re: RetroTink and the VIC-20

Ugh. I've seen that pixel bar on Adrian Black's YouTube channel too. I just assumed it was just his setup somehow (he uses a RetroTink too). I haven't heard of that bar with game consoles. But if the VIC-20 has issues with S-Video and the C64 has that white bar, then it may not be for me. Especially...

WTB: VIC-20 case and/or keyboard

I have a spare VIC-20 motherboard that needs a case and keyboard. I'd like to buy a good keyboard if the price is right. As for the case, a good quality one would be great but if you have one that is all beat-up, etc. I could possibly restore it. Something that I wouldn't mind painting. Oh, I'm in t...

RetroTink and the VIC-20

Has anyone here used their VIC-20 with a RetroTink? I know there is an S-Video mod for the VIC-20 so I was thinking with that mod and the RetroTink, it would hopefully provide a nice display using modern monitors. I would be curious if the C64 (with S-Video) would also look good. I'm thinking about ...

Ah thanks!

I was close. Populous still refers to "having a large population" but the context wasn't correct in how I used it.

This is pretty awesome but I would be more excited with new bread-bin molds.

Re: List of sales numbers for Home Computers

This isn't an answer to your question but I think some of the information in the article you linked to might be questionable. I was surprised to read that the Atari Lynx sold less than a million units and that it was outsold 3:1 by the Wonderswan and the N-Gage. This is contradicted by the Wikipedi...

Does anyone actually know what day the VIC was released? I like to mark these days on my calendar (seriously).

Re: Connecting C128(D) keyboard to VIC20?

I don't have the pinouts handy at the moment but it's pretty easy to find online. One thing to consider (other than having to route the cable through the case because the C128 keyboard will not fit) is that the extra keys like the external keypad, etc. will not have address lines in the VIC. Which i...
