Re: Reading MIDI data
Can anyone recommend a way to read MIDI data (note pitch and duration)? Get midicvt from http://www.vlsi.fi/en/support/software/vs10xxtools.html . The code is designed to perform midi format 1 to format 0 conversion, but you can insert your own code to show the note on and note off events. (Note th...

It could also be the voltage regulation inside the machine, for example dried-up electrolytic condensators.Gabriel Angelos wrote:I've tested the power supply and the A/V cable and those are working perfectly.

For example, many of the CMP instructions I use, even if comparing to #$00 is to help me look at the code and see what is going on. What I do is keep the unnecessary instructions in comments, you could do the same. For example when I optimize clc and sec instructions away (by convincing that C is a...

I have big problems with NTSC raster changing in the middle of the screen on Atalantis in my emulator VICE is accurate with the raster timing in NTSC. There are however some very hard-to-point features in the NTSC VIC-I that don't work in the actual machine while working on VICE. In normal circumst...

Re: NTSC raster problem
In NTSC though, it doesn't change the background color until in the middle of the screen. For some reason NTSC really changes the raster counter in the middle on the line. You just have to time it. This affects some other things as well. Also, the horizontal scroll gives trouble. In PAL the first v...

You can also check the copper part of VIMM which creates a scroller by changing the background color. The first ever copper scroller was created for C64 during the last century (the AmigaEmulation demo).4mat/atebit wrote:A while back I got the Vic to do different char colours on every 2nd vertical line

Re: any music programs?
f(x) := 440 Hz*2^(x/12) You should try to find the "best value for 440 Hz" so that the scales have the least mean square error.. After all, the absolute frequencies matter little, while the "scaliness" matters the most. Like mentioned, fractional-number accuracy can be achieved ...

I have hacked a NTSC version of the demo. The NTSC version is now on the web ( http://www.iki.fi/a1bert/Pu-239/vicual-mmix/ ). Unfortunately the horizontal positioning in NTSC machines gives me grief and colscr and credits parts are not as good as they are in a PAL VIC20. In PAL the horizontal posi...

Please make an NTSC version. :-) I have hacked a NTSC version of the demo. NTSC has few problems in how horizontal position and columns relate to each other. Some parts are not pretty. I have to check how the demo looks like in an actual NTSC machine. I especially like your fonts. The fonts are act...

I'm 99% sure the youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhfuSPg3kXQ Anders created is from an actual VIC20. Just make sure you get the higher-quality .mp4 version, although even that loses to the real machine.Jeff-20 wrote:If this is PAL, then i want to see a YouTube of it on real hardware.

Re: VICUAL MMIX - new unexpanded VIC20 demo
The thought of a game has come to my mind, but it takes much more than just tricking the VIC-I. And I don't want to make a remake of an existing game, it should have some originality as well.nbla000 wrote:Have you never tried to use your talent for a big 16/24k vic-20 game ?
