Re: Resistors between cassette port and video port?

Nice, Brad. I think that's the most likely answer. I'll check with my meter to confirm it is indeed pin 3 on the video port.

Resistors between cassette port and video port?

I opened up a VIC-20 (old board, ca. 1982 with the voltage regulator on the board). Someone had added two resistors in series between pin 4 on the cassette port and a pin on the video port. See attached pic. I don't get what they were trying to do. Pin 4 is "read" and I didn't bother tryin...

Thank you.

Thanks! Looks like it has to run in the unexpanded VIC. Adding even 8k expansion causes the garbage characters. I had a 32k expansion card with my real VIC and don't remember having to unplug it to play. In any case, I was able to load and play it in WinVICE.

Thanks, that was what I was looking for. However, I can't figure out how to run it in WinVICE. loading it with shift-runstop finds "salmon run" and begins loading but then gets some weird characters on the screen. Suggestions?

Looking for Salmon Run

I'm looking for the game Salmon Run by Synapse. I owned the tape when I was young but I'm afraid it's unreadable. Did anyone else play this game? Very fun!
