I did think about putting a VIC-20 in a SX-64 case.
I have two SX-64's, so that's not the problem.
But I noticed the VIC-20 board does not fit in the case. You have to cut the board in two peaces
And putting in an emulator would not be soVICsticated.

Re: Vic-20 starts searching for Pi
I have tried again with different memory cartridges but everything works fine at the moment.
Even after one hour playing I can't reproduce this strange error.
Maybe my Vic was just a little bit ill.

Vic-20 starts searching for Pi
My Vic-20 shows a strange problem:
when trying to load the directory from a floppy with:
load "$",8
The vic 20 will start searching for Pi.
It's the same with or without memory expansion.
What could be the problem?

Re: Pictorial Vic-20 Fault Guide?
Thanks @mike ! The VIC registers get initialised, but the screen and colour RAM are not. One possible cause could be a defect in the lower RAM ($0000..$03FF). What happens if you enter POKE36879,26 + [RETURN]? Does the border turn red or do you get no reaction at all? For more troubleshooting you'd ...

Pictorial Vic-20 Fault Guide?
For the Commodore 64 there is "The Pictorial C64 Fault Guide" (https://www.pictorial64.com)
Is there anything similar for the Vic-20?
I hoped so because my spare Vic suddenly shows this screen most of the time:
(the other times it just show a black screen)

Re: My 2-prong DC PSU experiments
The 12 volt AC adapter I am using is a real 12 volt AC adapter When I turn on the VIC the output drops to 9,2 volt. I tested the voltage from the LM325: - using the 9 volt AC adapter it supplies 4,3 volt and bad image - using the 12 volt AC adapter it supplies 4,9 volt and the image is much better. ...

Re: 1540 Floppy ..??
My first floppy drive was a 1540 on the VIC 20. When I bought a C64, I still could use the 1540 without switching ROM using a trick. You had to use a poke command to turn the screen off. Then the C64 was fast enough to load/save. poke: xxxxxx,x: load "$",8 After loading/saving I restored t...

Re: My 2-prong DC PSU experiments
Thanks for all the interesting info in this thread! I tried a 9v AC 30 watts transformer to get my 2 prong Vic working but was not satisfied with the result on my old Vic. The screen showes dark horizontal parts on the screen. These dark parts slowly move in a vertical direction. Found this thread :...

Re: Atari ST, the misunderstood computer?
I remember my dentist using an Atari ST in the end of the eighties. The ST was in the treatment room and he checked it to see/enter patient data. The first time I enterend the room and noticed his ST he was very enthousiastic! When I told him I owned an Amiga he smiled and said: "Now lets see i...

Is it possible? .prg files to .wav files?
Ok, after 5 years I tried my old Vic-20 and it works great! I'm supprised that most of my old tapes are still working. But sadly enough, not my most loved game: Matrix I found matrix as a .prg file on the internet. Works ok on the Vice emulator but... I want it to run on the real thing: using the At...
