Most modern IEC/SD devices don't have the second connector to connect another drive or printer, so that particular device has an optional second connector or "pass through" (same thing). http://www.nkcelectronics.com/sd2iec-daughter-boar2.html That's why I bought it... 2 serial ports, Rob...

...and what is an optional "pass through" IEC connector? The C64 and VIC20 had a single IEC connector, which is where you connect disk drives and printers. Most Commodore disk drives and some printers had two IEC connectors so that you could "daisy chain" them, for instance you ...

old thread REVIVED! I just thought of another thing I would change about the VIC: the default character color value . Why is it white (value 1)? It should be black (value zero), so that a program can POKE to the default white screen and still be seen! I can't understand the logic of making it white...

Kernal upgrade

Anyone feel the VIC needs a KERNAL upgrade? The C64 had 2 kernal upgrades in it's lifetime. The poor VIC never had any. One of the bugs in the first C64 was filling all color ram with white which made pokes to screen ram white and caused a flickering when the screen scrolled, this is actually a hold...

it's as easy to use as a 1541 drive, it doesn't do some of the things the 1541 drive can do, but lots of games and programs have been modified to work with it. It also supports fastloaders like JiffyDos and Epyx Fatsload for the C64 and SJLoad for the VIC. I don't know if there is an "Official:...

All of the links above are outside the US, since you're in the US a good choice would be the uIEC/SD from Jim Brain.

I have a couple of these and they work great.

Which cartridge?
If it's one of the Scott Adams Adventure games:

AdventureLand
Pirate's Cove
Mission Impossible
Voodoo Castle

or The Count

then you need to type:

SYS32592

then press enter to stat.

It would be interesting to see how yours is further modified inside, if the trace leading to the switches is cut then there must be a jumper or even more cut traces. I just took mine apart and it looks exactly like yours except it has a fuse under the board, bridging the cut trace. All the numbers ...

I just noticed that it's not the CD0 line that's cut on those, it's actually pin 21 (+5v). Here are the pics of mine: http://s6.postimage.org/ro9xg3gt9/100_0070.jpg http://s6.postimage.org/r012x5i3h/100_0071.jpg PCB Front http://s6.postimage.org/bftp6m7z1/100_0072.jpg PCB Back Does this mean that I ...

I have one of these expanders and the trace is not cut on mine. I took it apart to see if it was cut in some hidden place but it's not. That trace leads to the 5 switches at the top, not including the reset, then the other side of each switch leads to its numbered slot. It would be interesting to se...

Hopefully no one comes and steals yours while your not home since everyone knows your exact address now!

[hint] You might want to just put your approximate location instead of your whole address. [/hint]

I use 2GB SD cards formatted to FAT16. The reason that I use FAT16 is because I use FatSort.exe for Windows http://hem.passagen.se/chsw/fatsort/index.html which is used to sort directories and files alphabetically does not work in FAT32. And the physical limit for FAT16 is 2GB. I could use FAT32 an...
