Re: Help naming a game

Awise fwom your gwave etc. I now believe it was Pharoah's curse. Can't get it to run though. have grabbed the .d64 and it seems to load in 2 parts. The first part has some basic that you run that then does some more loading of a00 and then 600 and then leaves the cursor on a sys call but that just j...

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like a great book.

Re: Vic-20 Power Switch (2 pin power version)

I ended up putting an in-line switch from a table lamp between the PSU and the two pins that go into the Vic but I do like the look of those replacement switches @beamrider. Did you get that installed ok?

Re: Vic-20 Power Switch (2 pin power version)

Cheers. Yeah I could hack in another inline switch a few inches away from where it enters the VIC. Weirdly when I dug it out the loft the switch was moving freely again but the moment I had it all set up on the desk it became almost immovable again!

I think the 8K ones had a switch iirc

Or just use Vice for now.
Yes, linked PDF states the 8k boards had dip switches

chysn wrote: Tue Mar 30, 2021 11:13 am No worries, here's the build at $5000, attached.

Do this

Code: Select all

LOAD "WAX4K-5000.PRG",8,1
SYS 20480
↑ 10 50 NEW
The last line is semi-optional, but will protect wAx from BASIC by setting the start- and end-of-BASIC pointers.
Muchas gracias Amigo! All working great.

No dip switches in my cartridge! It's the Vic-1111 and just had it apart. Just some soldered chips and that's it. Checked both sides of the board.

Re: Softloading wAx with a VIC-1111, how? (split from: Wanted: VicMon cart or similar)

Thanks Ian.

I have a commodore 16K expansion and too new to the tech details to know which of these so called "blocks" it's assigned to ;-)

I'll investigate. With a bit of reading up I expect I could build a version that sat in a different spot iun memory and get it going that way.

Softloading wAx with a VIC-1111, how? (split from: Wanted: VicMon cart or similar)

wAx was largely a response to my Kafkaesque experiences with VICmon. The newer wAx video manual playlist is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObDbgTEe60A&list=PLC5d4vp670Nu-dw8KbIhtJjpz7Y0RTM89. There have been many changes between the first demo and the final version of July 2020. The up-to...

Vic-20 Power Switch (2 pin power version)

Hi,
So I have the 2 pin power socket version of the Vic and the power switch on the side is really difficult to switch on. Has anyone found a god fitting replacement switch I can use?

Cheers!

Re: Wanted: VicMon cart or similar

Many thanks to you all! WAx looks the business! Good price for the cart too, shame the shipping is so expensive but I get it, I just shipped an Amiga 1200 to the USA and it was almost £100. I'm already using cbm prg studio but I wanted to get stuck in on the real machine too. I had a VIC when I was ...

It's got me thinking though, about how difficult it is to make your own cartridges... to the search engine!

Wanted: VicMon cart or similar

Basically I want a machine code monitor cartridge. Something that will assemble and disassemble. I'm a bit clueless as to the state of the Vic scene so maybe there's some magic cart that does loads of useful stuff? Cheers!
