Re: Late (not actually) to the FE3 party. Operational Queries.
If you are sure your cartridge file is loading you might want to check whether it has the $A000 address in the first two bytes. If those two bytes end up at the beginning of your loaded block in ram your cart can't run. It depends on whether you are loading the file to a specified address or loading...

Re: Ed for Prophet 5
I used to have a CZ-101, and if I still had it I'd totally do that. Ha! That is exactly what I have sitting here. It's been on my project list for a long time to do an editor for it. I NEVER thought about doing it on the VIC. I have one of the Retro Innovations VIC MIDI boards so I have all the pie...

Re: Ed for Prophet 5
The intersection of Prophet 5 and Vic-20 users must be very small :) No doubt! Not only that, but the package of cartridge, interface hardware, and printed manual will come in at around $100USD. But I bet at least one sells in 2024! Now if you produced a version for the Casio CZ line...

Re: bmc64 on Pi 3B+
I have BMC installed on a Pi zero 2 and even on that little thing it runs a pretty decent VIC-20 emulation. It's kind of nice to have a VIC-20 that will fit in my pocket. (Sans keyboard of course)

That is wicked cool! I think it will be very useful for a little reverse engineering project I am working on.

Re: Cardco Cardboard 3s fuse value
Mine says on one side BUSSAGA/ on the other side 250V0LT. No other markings on it. Thank you for the clue. I have noticed in the manual that they list the approximate current draw of various cards. I suppose if I figure worst case and maybe add a bit of padding I can approximate the amperage? Any h...

Cardco Cardboard 3s fuse value
I just got my hands on one of these but it came without the fuse. Can anyone tell me what I need to replace it? I was hoping it would be in the manual but I don't see it.

And going on a year later, I have to thank @Snogpitch for the scan. I just got my hands on one of these.

Re: Synthesound
Wow! Thank you for doing all that. Seems that "unexpanded" is the critical thing here. That got it working for me. I found a manual for it at https://ia801502.us.archive.org/22/item ... 9_text.pdf

Synthesound
So chysn's thread on cartridges (here) reminded me that I used to have the Synthesound cartridge from HES for my VIC-20. I thought I would give it another look but the image that is posted on Zimmers just produces garbage on my screen. Is there a trick to getting this to run?

Re: WTB: Some kind of word processing software
I would second chysn's vote for SpeedScript. Another good one that you can find a cartridge image for is Write Now! It would be even better if someone could find and scan the manual for it. I have the cartridge for Quick Brown Fox. It's not too bad, but others are arguably better. TechTinkering has ...

Re: Cartridges!!!
I must have been a true nerd. My first cartridge was the SuperExpander. After that I did get Omega Race and I think Amok. At the time I was always poor and got most of my software from magazine type-ins. Somewhere in there I got the HES SyntheSound cartridge which was a favorite. I think at some poi...
