Re: The Queen's Footsteps: Physical release

Hi to all!

I decided to release the full source code of The Queen's Footsteps:

https://github.com/DarwinNE/The-Queen-s-Footsteps/

It should work better as a submodule of AWS2C:

https://github.com/DarwinNE/aws2c

Enjoy!

Re: Beta test for Silk Dust, a new text adventure

Just a few lines to say that the Silk Dust original soundtrack participates to the August 2023 Creator Day and Sale, in bundle with a piece that is called New Star and there is a 55% discount on both: https://itch.io/s/100231/august-2023-creator-day-and-sale As usual, the Silk Dust game can be downl...

Re: Horrible Audio Clipping

Ah, now I see better what you mean. In any case, if it can be useful, in the past I tried to explore a little the sound possibilities of the VIC20 for the game intro of Cavern Explorer. I noticed that everything was badly clipped if the volume was too high: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvhkRBfTAe...

Re: Horrible Audio Clipping

Interesting. What are you measuring, exactly? The ouput DC voltage? Where, exactly on the schematic? In this version, there is a CD blocking capacitor on the ouput, C11: http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/schematics/computers/vic20/VIC-20%20Schematic%20-Version%20E.pdf Or is it an AC measurement...

Re: Beta test for Silk Dust, a new text adventure

Work is finished on the Silk Dust soundtrack! You can listen all the pieces on SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-375194295/sets/silk-dust-soundtrack I created a soundtrack project on Itch.io where all the pieces (AIFF 16 bit 44.1 kHz and FLAC 24 bit 192 kHz, plus a bonus piece called Turin Sui...

Re: VIC Audio - is this correct

I had a look to the schematics and it seems that there were different versions. Here, there is a RC filter (R9/C12) at the base of Q2 that has a -3dB cutoff probably a bit below 16kHz, that is reasonable: http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/schematics/computers/vic20/VIC-20%20Schematic%20-Version...

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

I checked and the error is the same in the manual in Italian!
The lowest voice is indicated as "contralto", it is very strange. I never noticed it before!

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

Ah, ok, it is a figure of the original manual, I recall it. I will check on the Italian version I used as a child to see how it is translated. I agree with the point, nonetheless, the alto vocal range is usually higher than the tenor vocal range (but the two of course overlap), it seems quite a bit ...

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

Great book! I really love it!

At page 60 I spotted something weird: The 36874 register controls the lowest voice, that should be bass and not alto (register comprised between tenor and soprano usually sung by female singers).

Re: Beta test for Silk Dust, a new text adventure

Another piece of music. It is called Mediterranean Sunset. If you have played to Silk Dust, you should know what is this referring to :) https://soundcloud.com/user-375194295/mediterranean-sunset?in=user-375194295/sets/silk-dust-soundtrack I still have to write a longer suite and then I will declare...
