As it happens the problem was the cassette was too tight, luckily it had screws, untightening, rewind/forward a couple of times sorted out the problem.

I used to know this a Loooooooong time ago, but I can't remember now.

So, If you load an 8k expanded game into 16k should it work? I ask because I just got Bonzo by Audiogenic on tape and it crashes upon loading
I only have a 16k expander.
