Yeah, it lacked the DMA chip that was in official Commodore REUs so transfer speeds were slower.

I like the title screen, gives it a very early 80s feel.

There's only a couple of enemy changes (e.g the Penrose triangles - Software Projects' logo)

A lot of postal services prohibit the sending of electronic items, especially with batteries.

Software manuals have a lot of clauses in about export/import - the US manual for the GoDot image software on Commodore 64 explicitly informs you that it must not be used to run a nuclear reactor...

I thought Perils of Willy was a very fine version when it came out, but I agree about the dreary music. Also that the levels are much less visually distinctive and not as well-designed. Overall, it lacks the pleasant atmosphere and almost mystical sense of wonder that Manic Miner provides. And, wow...
