Re: Why the Vic-20 is number one

I recall a Vic-20 on my dads desk at home. It was the first computer that I had any interaction with, thus it became special to me. He had shown me how to type out my name and display it :) I love this little machine, all the memories it brings back. For the most part, the vintage computer community...

Re: Best way to get online?

Good to hear! Yes, I've been very happy with the Strikelink cable I built. You can do a 9600 baud mod to it for the C64 and use the Striketerm program. For the Vic20, you can just stick with the standard build for 2400 baud. Will you be using an unexpanded Vic or do you have a ram expansion? Like I...

Best way to get online?

So since the comet64 is currently not being produced, whats the best way to get online? Ive seen several homebrew ways to get this done, but im certainly no expert. Im just a noob with time on his hands and an urge to build and see just what i can make my Vic-20 do :) So what would be the best way f...

Sorry, im a total newby at this. But at least im willing and wanting to learn about these cool machines.

Is this a good ram card?

So my vic 20 is stock, would this be a good ram card for it? I dont know what im going to eventually do with my Vic, right now its just gaming. But this looks like a deal for being sold for under 30 bucks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/331629073207?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX...

Re: Introducing Franken-Vic

Really nice setup. I perfer the 1541 despite it's size, especially the one with the same "hatch" in yours, so appealing :D They really do have a nice style to them, so classic and retro. Ive seen so many of these set up with dual 1541 drives, that I purchased another working and tested 15...

Introducing Franken-Vic

So for the grand total of 21 bucks for two Vic 20s with busted cases and each missing various parts, i made something:) So I stuck them both together and now have a working machine, Its Alive! So here is Franken-Vic, its still a project as you can see. Lots of work to do, modern av cables to buy, ra...

Darn, well I was hoping that this wouldnt be too difficult of a project. I was just looking for a good use for my Vic, something where it could be in use, near daily.

Re: can I use my Vic as a keyboard for my pc?

I'm merely looking for a way to use my Vic daily. Having the old girl set up as a functioning computer keyboard for my spare desktop might be fun. I just don't want to gut out the internals like some of these kits have you do, id rather have my vic fully functional and translate what I'm typing on i...

can I use my Vic as a keyboard for my pc?

I recently came across the Keyrah 2, http://www.vesalia.de/e_keyrahv2.htm It allows you to connect the vics keyboard to a pc's usb port. While thats fine, id like to find out how I can accomplish this same feat, while actually USING the Vic's motherboard and key board. I just dont want to gut out my...
