If it's this device

Then it uses the EXROM signal from the PLA. There's no equivalent of that on the VIC-20.

Re: Switchless JiffyDOS kernal switcher?
The RESTORE key handling in the C64 is quite different to the VIC, it goes through a 7474 flip-flop if I recall. Do you have a photo of how this is wired up in the C64?

Re: 2024 eBay pricing, What the actual?
Having only recently picked up a clean, tested, working Vic-20 for (I think) a very reasonable price with local pickup, I've just started checking UK eBay to see what other interesting items I can find to add to my latest nostalgic experience. What the heck, eBay? Why is everything Vic-20 related s...

Re: Late (not actually) to the FE3 party. Operational Queries.
I've yet to work out how to load the CRT image of wAx2, which resides in the source folder of the zip file I downloaded from GitHub. I recall there was a thread about the CRT format. I'll take a look and see if I can write a converter to generate a loader file from one. Edit: Full documentation is ...

Re: Late (not actually) to the FE3 party. Operational Queries.
@srowe The RENUM function works great. Thank you for adding it. “RENUM start, step” renumbers just as I’d expect. It doesn’t matter to me that it doesn’t handle GOTO/GOSUBs, just creating space to insert more entries into the LOADER files is enough. Glad it's useful. Incidentally, the firmware revi...

Re: Late (not actually) to the FE3 party. Operational Queries.
A nice RENUM command may come in useful, though I guess there’d already be a separate program/routine for this already, which I can add into the program loader, assuming I can ever create a working one… I've released a new version, 1.8, which has a REN command in the wedge. This can be used ...

Re: Late (not actually) to the FE3 party. Operational Queries.
Can you attach the program you've trying to load and I'll create a loader for you.
[Edit] You also find your program is already in this collection

Re: Late (not actually) to the FE3 party. Operational Queries.
FE3 firmware could also (maybe) benefit from a built-in renumber command? I’m numbering the lines in my loader file, like I would a bog-standard BASIC program and can imagine after a few dozen entries, this one file could get a bit awkward to wrangle. While experimenting with NOT creating a success...

Re: Late (not actually) to the FE3 party. Operational Queries.
My .crt files are just files renamed to display a .crt extension, so I can differentiate them as cartridge dumps. The files avenger.crt and choplifter.crt have just been renamed this way by myself, just so I know they were originally ROMs, dumped from Vic20 cartridges. As with .prg files (for examp...

Any interest? Final Expansion 3 (UK)
As they don't seem to be available anywhere I'm considering building a limited number of Final Expansion 3 cartridges. I'm not looking to make a profit on these, I'd estimate the price will be around £40-50 each (depending on volume). Is anyone interested in buying one? This is primarily addressed t...

Re: Late (not actually) to the FE3 party. Operational Queries.
However, I cannot wrap my head around the FE3 program and cart LOADERs. WTH is this? Having to write a BASIC program to set parameters to load a cart or program? …I know this device could be considered “retro” in itself (having sat in a box, unbuilt for nearly 10 years), but still, WTH? I SERIOUSLY...

Re: Building a quality PSU
I've just remembered I had a homemade PSU at the back of the cupboard.
The LM340 is rated at 1.5A, I wonder if I could replace that with an LM323 to increase that to 3A?
