There's now an intro that comes up with some story tailored for the target audience. *snigger*
And one fix for the gameplay: the ship is now _always_ red if it's invincible and can touch anything.

Re: pulse - now a release candidate
My concern is about breaking even and to not get f***** over in the process. That's even worse. I hope we don't end up discussing politics here.beamrider wrote:If money is you're motive you should be writing for the iPhone

Re: pulse – a horizontally scrolling shoot–'em–up
If you're really concerned about that , you shouldn't have published the game in downloadable form at all. In 2011 I reverse-engineered the source code of a cartridge with 4K ROM within 3 hours, see here: http://sleepingelephant.com/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=5238 , so that's about what I'...

Re: pulse - now a release candidate
Anyone who would make a video of it on the real thing?

YES! STRIKE!1! In the end that's all that matters, isn't it?orion70 wrote:I'm not much into this kind of games, but just can't stop playing - even if I have the reflexes of a 70-years old

Re: pulse – a horizontally scrolling shoot–'em–up
Just in case you missed it: the release candidate with sound is out. The distortions are quite telling – the game doesn't wait for the retrace, if you wonder why there's suddenly a kind of filter effect... There's only very little room for improvement left. I don't wanna get on your nerves here, too...

Re: pulse – a horizontally scrolling shoot–'em–up
Phew! I'm afraid we finally reached the physical limits. I'd call this a release candidate now.Victragic wrote:I have five zeroes in front of my highest score. Are there score multipliers later in the game?

Re: Panicman for 3k and 8k vic
I certainly love its smoothness and how close it got to the original.

Re: pulse – a horizontally scrolling shoot–'em–up
Yous can download a new version with sound right away at the initial location. The bonus weapons have been fixed as well. The experiments attracted a bunch of neighbours to the console which, after some explaining what I'm doing, headed off to install VICE on their boxes to play The Great Giana Sist...

Re: pulse – a horizontally scrolling shoot–'em–up
From what I've seen with a quick peek in the VICE monitor, the game already uses the full 4K of $1000 to $1FFF, and also $0200 to $03FF for code, and - of course - the zeropage. The interrupt vectors at $0314, $0316 and $0318 are overwritten, yet it survives a tap on the restore key. I also like th...

Re: pulse – a horizontally scrolling shoot–'em–up
The collision box has been corrected and there's now the number of lifes, a score and a hiscore. Just download it again from the same location.

Re: pulse – a vertically scrolling shoot–'em–up
I never saw Delta before. It looks great! Thanks for that, too. Oh, ermh, yes, it should read "horizontal". I can't find the problem with the collision box in the code and I don't like the sprites popping out on the left which shouldn't happen as well. As usual it's the last tiny bu...

Re: pulse – a vertically scrolling shoot–'em–up
Thanks a lot! Very encouraging. I'm in serious need for spare bytes there, too. Would love to keep it unexpanded.
